Sweet. Rape massive amounts of land and water to the point that it irreversibly damages and affects hundreds of thousands all so a profit can be made on a worthless berry known as a dessert fruit.

Boycott strawberries to the extreme! This devestation must stop!

Murder?

Oh, a storm is threatning
My very life today
If I dont get some shelter
Oh yeah, Im gonna fade away

War, children, its just a shot away
Its just a shot away
War, children, its just a shot away
Its just a shot away

Ooh, see the fire is sweepin
Our very street today
Burns like a red coal carpet
Mad bull lost its way

War, children, its just a shot away
Its just a shot away
War, children, its just a shot away
Its just a shot away

Rape, murder!
Its just a shot away
Its just a shot away

Rape, murder!
Its just a shot away
Its just a shot away

Rape, murder!
Its just a shot away
Its just a shot away

The floods is threatning
My very life today
Gimme, gimme shelter
Or Im gonna fade away

War, children, its just a shot away
Its just a shot away
Its just a shot away
Its just a shot away
Its just a shot away
I tell you love, sister, its just a kiss away
Its just a kiss away
Its just a kiss away
Its just a kiss away
Its just a kiss away
Kiss away, kiss away

Thanks for the heads up on this guys. I've been merrily eating my Driscoll's rasberries on my cereal every morning until now. I don't know what to do except change to buying most everything I eat to farmers markets. Suggestions? I live in San Jose.

Good ideas everyone lets put all local (large & small)farmers out of business so we can buy our strawberries from china, and pay $15 a basket. Produce fuels the economy in California. Wake up.

I used to work at a peach cannery. We used a 'hydra cooler' (cold water) to get the peaches down to 38 degrees. Peaches are really different then strawberries. I would imagine running cold water over the strawberries would reduce their shelf life, not extend it. Good article.

You better wake up, Bozo Biserkleyite...sheesh, you pc rad-cityfolk are pretty clueless, apparently....not "produce" produced over what the sustainable "ag carrying capacity" of a particular region, given that region's available resources.
That's the question. And who says we have any imperative, economic, moral, environmental or otherwise, which requires that we grow 25% of this country's berries in our little Pajaro Valley, irrespective of the costs?

FYI...15,000 acre feet of water requires around 7 new $100 million Santa Cruz desalination plants (one plant is possibly going to be built in 8 years, maybe???) to produce if they were to operate 24/7....of course, that's before operations and maintenance...mostly electricity to drive the pumps...but we can't really know what these costs might be....yet.

Do clueless people on this site need to be told that the location that populates under your user name is NOT THE PHYSICAL LOCATION you are posting from?? It is merely where your ISP is located. Let me know if you need me to explain that further for you.

Seems to me that YOU need to wake up and figure this out before giving others grief for not being "local".

Unbelievable.

It's not your physical location, "local".
It's your warped pc rad-bizerklyesque grossly inaccurate perspective of reality that's of concern. But don't fret about it too much.
You are not alone in your fantasy.

Daily Horoscope for January 6

Aries

The behaviour of somebody around you (most probably your partner or family member) may be rather irrational today. Alternatively, a surprise involving one of these people is possible. Try to keep your domestic plans reasonably flexible to cover all possible outcomes. The focus is on improving your relationship with your partner or with friends today. Any outings should go very smoothly.
