how much of that sales tax Judy MARTENS is trying to get her hands on? Instead of spending so much time doing stories in the paper her time would be better spent pulling that stick out of her ass and trying to get her nose out of the air. What a self righteous b*tch!

I would push my car in the snow, uphill, before I spent a penny in this town.

I agree with you "Count me out."
I will be going to Fort Smith next week to do ALL my shopping.
One can save a bundle of money by driving to Fort Smith to do ALL their shopping. Fort Smith does not charge city sales tax on grocery items, plus gasoline also cost a lot less in Fort Smith than in Sallisaw.
As for Judy Martens and City Manager Bill Baker, those two have got to be the most spendthrift, greedy, money hungry two people I have ever heard of. They seem to think that money grows on trees. It does not matter to them that people can't afford to even as much as stay warm in their homes with the cost of electric being what it is in Sallisaw. The city just raised our water rates AGAIN, now the city is going to raise our electric rates AGAIN the first of the year. Electric rates, water rates and sewer rates have doubled since Bill Baker has been City Manager.
The unemployment rate is over 10% in this county and with the race track closing I am sure the unemployment rate will increase to a good 20% if not more.
If City Manager Bill Baker and Judy Martens worked as hard to bring some decent paying jobs into Sallisaw they do sitting around dreaming up how to frivolously spend the people's money, the people in Sallisaw may have a better livelihood.
Bill Baker and Judy Martens along with several others with the City and the County need to take some classes on how to manage and budget money.
Just like that ridiculous flyer the city sent out with our last utility bills. I don't mind saying that I sent that piece of trash right back to them when I paid my utility bill, with a note that read...
HOW MUCH DID IT COST THE CITIZENS TO HAVE THIS PIECE OF TRASH PRINTED UP???
So yes, from now on every penny that I have any control over will be spent elsewhere and definitely WILL NOT BE SPENT IN SALLISAW.

Wow...in response to the above post, It's christmas time! You people that like to moan and groan about taxes, wages, and how bad Sallisaw is...it's this simple "MOVE"! Marty Mcgowan sounds like you should just move to Ft. Smith i'm no one would miss you here, I mean seriously why talk so much crap about the town you live in!

Hey BOZO BOBO...
If it is the truth then it is not crap.
I too will be doing all my shopping somewhere else besides in Sequoyah County.
I think the City and the County officials are counting their chickens before they hatch when talking about how much money the "rigged" 1/2 cent sales tax is going to be bringing in.
