I have lived in Cookeville for a few months now and have been driving 45 minutes to another town for church.Life Church was the first and the only to come up to me and warmingly invite me in to their church. So I decided this week I am going to go there and see what its like and I'm pretty excited about it. But if it hadn't been for one of my loving customers at work I wouldn't have ever known about it. When people love their church that much there has to be some good in it

before you guys start making all these accusations, i thought you'd like to know that the church's offering from the Coffee Shop has been stolen on multiple occasions. With a church that brings in anywhere from 45-60,000 dollars a week in offerings i think the police officer is well played. Maybe we should start going to church to learn more about God and became more faithful...not worrying about a police officer. Thank you and good-day.
If any church is pulling in 45-60K a week, then they should damn well be paying taxes

This is the Deputy that some of you are having a problem with. First of all, this is the first time I have been on this stupid web site, and only because one of my friends told me to read it. I have been going to Life Church for several years and feel so blessed to have such a place to worship God and fellowship with so many awesome people. Instead of getting on here and talking about things, why not just come up and ask!! I will be glad to talk with you about whatever it is you have on your mind. I am there to worship God with my family, not to scare or make anyone upset. Myself and the city officer are trying to help you get out of the parking lot easier. I am a member of this church and love it very much. I am sorry if me being there in my uniform which I am very proud of upsets you, but I will continue to be there every chance I can to learn more about God and to worship with my family. PLEASE come to me with your questions or concerns and don't waste your time on here. My name is David. God Bless
Are you there and the city officer on the taxpayers dime? Be honest now!

The so called "armed officer" you see in the foyer just happens to be one of two policemen that help control traffic before and after each service. This is because the road out front of the church can get so congested that traffic comes to a halt.
So, are the taxpayers footing the bill to control traffic? I would really like to know as this would be totally wrong if true.

I guess I'm getting set in my ways, but if a church takes in that much money. Shouldn't it be called a business and pay taxes or help pay welfare for poor folks.
most definately yes!! But then I am of the opinion all churches should pay taxes, regardless of the amount of their tithes.

It amazes me that folks act like Christianity is something new. How "no ones asked them to Church except Cookeville Life" "Pastor Bobbys amazing" and so forth. I am surprized how little people know about the basic principils of the Church, let alone comprehend that "sensational" doctrine/worship presented to them. Listen, there is NOTHING so "new" or God inspiring about any one church/PREACHER that it takes folks from their previous church, not that denominationalism is good.It is the one true message of God that is the only thing to be worshipped and obeyed.

You would twist around every word I said.Of course its not new that's why I was going to a church to begin with.the only reason I am leaving my other church is because it is such a long drive.as long as I am worshipping somewhere I am happy. I am simply trying to say everyone that I have met seems to love it there so I am going to try it out.

Sorry bout that. Your post got me started and I quickly got off to something else. My confusion about your situation is, why would someone HAVE to drive such a long distance to Church? Theres Churches everwhere. It seems you were very open about trying a new...different Church. All it took was a warm invite. If ones a "Church goer", it really shouldn't take an invite, although IF someones aware that you are a Church goer, they'd invite you to their Church.
My aggravation is, folks look to get their ears and hearts tickled and miss the point entirely!! The Charismatic is a mess.
Sorry again. I didn't mean to sound as if I was picking on you.

Life Church did have a governing body. It was called The Assemblies of God headquartered in Springfield MO. I don't attend this church anymore and I'm filtering my comments because I don't want to disrepect the intended good work that is being done there. I believe Bobby is a man of God and has good intentions for leading this congregation. I don't know the "official" reason for the seperation from their governing body. I realize there is a stigma attached to that religious group and having a "non-denominational" church allows a further reach but it does also totally remove you from financial accountability. I'm sure Life Church still operates under their church consitution but at the end of the day there is no outside agency that monitors this. It's a lot of responsibility and people are only human. I wish them all the best. I know it's hard to be accessable when you have 2000 sheep, but this sheep got lost and I'll never go back. That's between me and God. I know it will be no excuse when I get to heaven. All I know is the bigger a church gets the less accountability they have and the wider the cracks are for people to fall through. They're great places to disappear. Sometimes you just need to sit in a pew and be ministered to instead of being in the forefront and this church will allow you to do that, but unless you make yourself known and visible, if you just stop sitting in that pew, well - there's a line of cars outside that the officers will direct into the sanctuary that will gladly take your spot. More than likely - you'll never be missed. I don't want to sound bitter but maybe I do, maybe I am, and that's on me. Just my opinion.

I have the same problem, the big mega churches seems more concerned about money and looking good than caring for the sick, hungry, and dying people. I've often thought if GOD should come back for a visit. Would HE visit the finest church and the best dressed or would he be out in the highways and byways compelling them to seek HIM. Like maybe the jails, hospitals, the hurting that have no one to lead them.

at Life Church! Bobby has really helped me come closer to God and understand His word. They also have a great kid program. Sometime I go to church in the worst moods and I force myself to go sometimes. Everytime I come out with such hope and joy as compared to if I would have stayed home like the devil tries to get me to. A whole week in this old world can get a man down, I look forward to my Sundays at church. I will sure miss Pastor Bobby until he comes back. I for one will be praying for him like he did for me once. I'll also pray for all of our churches in Cookeville and throughout America for a great revival to sweep our nation. We need God more than we ever have before.

When are the members of Life Church gonna have their light bulb moment? Bobby Davis is taking that church for a ride while he rides on his Harley during his much needed sabatical. He's so over worked, preaching for 3 hours a week, that he was whisked away from preaching for at least 7 weeks. Most working folks don't agree with this decision but the pastorial staff at Life Church made and attempt to do damage control and went as far as bringing Jimmy Arms ,former Stephen Street Babtist Church pastor, to preach a forgiveness sermon on Mother's Day. We heard for an hour how to forgive our pastor for being a deserter and are expected to accept that he is gone YET AGAIN (which by the way is common out there). If being senior pastor wears Bobby Davis out that bad maybe he should step down and let Greg Canada or Bobby Sebastian take over, after all they already pull his weight...then he can put his focus on where his heart really is...helping the drug addicts and riding his Harley! Don't get me wrong, I think he's great with the addicts but he has so many other folks who need to hear him deliver God's word. I think there's a serious case of preacher worship at Life Church, maybe now they'll wake up see he's not too concerned with them. After all folks, he works so hard . Bet the blue collar working guy in the sactuary who drops his last dollar and change in the offering bucket would love to be that kind of tired! Waiting for the day he is held accountable for his behavior. Haven't decided whether to keep attending or find a church where the senior pastor actually works and can be reached, one that hangs around and speaks to his members instead of dashing in before he speaks and dashing out as he's done. Guess I'll have to wait till his sabatical has ended to see how this all plays out! Bet he comes back with a nice tan!
