Go to US Dept. Of Labor. There is no regulation against it. Anything over 40hrs in a week must be paid overtime.

You must not work at a hospital... where many employees work 7on, 7off. They like having their 7 days in a row off.

I have worked the last 9 days in a row at my job. I heard its against federal law to do this. How they do it is put me on the schedule for 5 days in one week and make me work 4 more days at the beginning of the next week. And I work retail. Any advice?
Try to ignore the dick heads on here. You did get several nice responses. There are some nice posters but most are not.

Why do so many of you think that people are lazy slobs because they like to have a day off now and then? I mean, even God rested after He created the world! Most people don't live to work, they work to live. Our jobs are not our lives, but they are a means to finance our lives. I work 40 hours a week myself, and I believe that if you don't work, you don't eat, but even slaves get some time off!!

What about all the people who do shift work (12 hours a day for 7 days or 48 hours every other day) like doctors, nurses, paramedics, and fire fighters? I don't see them bitching about having to go in and do their jobs. I don't know where this moron works but I can almost guarantee that the work load is incomparable.

9 days in a row of work in this economy is a BLESSING and is certainly not illegal by any stretch.
I know people who work 7 - 12 hour days a week from 7a.m. to 7p.m., mon-friday for 3 or 4 months on-end for the overtime they'll get on each check.
Be glad you have a job, and furthermore be glad they ARE giving you plenty of hours. If you can't do it, there are plenty of jobs around here at fast food restaurants who will pay you minimum wage and ask you to come in for 3 hour shifts to either open or close the restaurant with the rest of the newbies or peons they don't like.
Most people with jobs don't get near the hours they need to survive now-a-days and pay their bills, so be thankful, not whiny.

What people fail to realize is that retail is not some easy job. Try standing in one spot all day with a radius of 1 foot to move about and see how your feet feel at the end of the day. I have held jobs in warehouses, retail, food, etc. And retail is the only job that will wipe you out at the end of the day. Just because you have a job don't mean you should be happy. And calling soomeone a pansy, pussy, and so forth because they asked a question is quite childish. Until you have worked where they work at, and have stood in their shoes you have no right to talk down on someone. As for the Poster of this post, I feel your pain. My job also has me working 10 days straight and I'm only part-time. They laid off many temps to only have us work harder and longer for no extra pay. At the end of the week I still bring home less than $400 every two weeks. So before you all complain that this person should be happy they have job, let's see how you fare in those conditions for that little pay. Keep the peace folks!!

I worked 14 hours a day, 7 days a week for over 3 months straight in Afghanistan last year. Please tell me how hard that retail work is.

You have NO appreciation whatsoever! If you think it sucks, move to China or India where sweat shop workers live on site and work for pennies an hour in deplorable conditions, soiling themselves because they're not allowed to leave their work stations. You don't deserve the job you have you big crybaby.

Peoples definition of working hard varies. My point is I am glad they are willing to work. Some jobs are harder and require one to dig deeper. SEMPER FI. but to all the losers that choose not to work and live off the system that was developed to get you back on your feet instead of keep you on your ass need to man up and do something. At least for your kids before they grow up just like you. If your a dope head well karma will choke your ass out. Sorry for going on a rant but I feel better now. Lol
