Yes, the union's strike has forced the closing of the plant and the company, also Merita Bread, putting 18,500 workers out of work. Thanks union bosses and their will be more companies going under due to Obamacare and too many Federal regs. Wait and see! You bought these problems when you voted for Obama! Now you own them, take responsibility!

The workers went on strike because Hostess wanted to cut pay and benefits. It had nothing to do with Obama care. The workers already had benefits. They weren't asking for more.
The recent deaths from meningitis due to tainted medicine really show that we need govt. regulations in place. In fact, the plant where the compounding took place was not regulated by the FDA. What's that tell you? Tells me it should have been. We need continued regulations in other areas as well.

And if I owned a plant and can't make enough money to operate, I can close it down or move to somewhere I can make a profit. The union bosses still have a high paying job as thugs and 18,500 people are without jobs here close to Christmas. You think the Union bosses are going to lose any sleep over it. Your stupid and brainwashed if you do. More than likely their saying "well, we didn't really think they would close the company, sorry, We thought they were just jacking us up, I guess not, hope you find another job with the economy the way it is. Listen, good thing is Obama is looking out for us and you will be able to get food stamps!

You're calling others stupid when you can't even write a grammatically correct sentence. If you can't afford to pay your employees a livable wage then you should reevaluate the quality of your business and determine why you aren't generating enough revenue to cover costs. That's not the fault of the employees or the unions. That's the fault of the head hauncho. Companies that have never had to deal with the prospect of a union pay their employees well enough that they don't see the point in biting the hand that feeds them.

Sorry, didn't know I was talking to an English teacher, but I digress. Who determines what a living wage is? It should be the people making the product. If he can get his product made so as to be competitive in the market place, then he will thrive and employ more people. He can pay what the unions think he must pay, but what he can to make a profit. Do you think his plant is there for the sole purpose to provide jobs for people who are never satisfied with wages or work conditions, or not a big enough pensions? I think not. He can shut it down or move it because he can't pay the wages the "Unions require".

Pretty sad that unions FORCED hostess to not be able to deliver wonder bread and twinkies together in the same truck. Causing the company to have to pay for more trucks, more drivers, more gas, more equipment.
But, what the hel* it's not the unions that'll be hurt, they will still get paid!
Now the employees get to pay by losing their jobs.
THERE IS MORE INTEGRITY IN HAVING A JOB, THEN COLLECTING WELFARE, EVEN IF IT PAYS MINIMUM WAGE!

Don't worry Twinkie lovers, if the demand for Twinkies is high enough, some other bakery company will probably buy the Twinkie name and receipe,process,etc..... The free market system will prevail !!!

The company was mitt romneyed--the ceos cleaned out the bank accounts of Hostess and declared bankruptcy. You'll still have twinkies. They'll be made in mexico by factory workers making 2 bucks an hour. Of course they will deposit large amounts of spit into them also.

Are you also known as Drama Queen and others because there is a similar pattern, especially with calling others stupid and always saying the same thing over and over about foodstamps. Just because someone challenges you on a point doesn not deem them stupid or on foodstamps. Asfaras the union, they screwed themselves. I would've taken the slight cut and had a job and waited that the previous wage have been reached within the 2-3 year scope as promised. They said no, so I don't feel any sympathy. I have friends who would have gladly taken their jobs. When people have jobs and muck it up its not the current President's, the Governor's, the Mayor's, etc. fault - It's yours.
