It's not so much what people want to see.....what I've heard is they can't afford the insurance to cover those events.

Before you get too excited, does anyone know what they are going to charge to get in at the "new" derby?

The fair board could have afforded the insurance. They had allready discussed to raise the admission from $3.00 up to $5.00 on the nights of the derby. The board has some other reason for not having the derby.I was told the board didnt like a clause in the insurance that the promoter provided. There only problem to that is , the fair boards insurance is to beleived to have the same clause in it. I guess they can use their insurance but nobody else can use the same insurance. I beleive it would be good for one of the board members to get on topix and explain this to every one,and let the people know why the derby was droped.

I was at the last fair board meeting with several other drivers. We sit and waited for a member to show up for 30 to 45 minutes. After she arrived , they started talking about a clause in the insurance. Instead of talking to a insurance agent about the problem ,they contacted a attorney, She give her opinion on the clause. After that the board made a motion to cancel the derby.By waiting on the board member to arive , they had just enough votes to cancel the derby. One of the board members then made a motion to vote on the other shows ( that were allready picked out). The derby was done before the meeting was ever started.

doesn't sound like a "fair" board to me?I spent good money building my car for the show they advertized having,I hope they have legal reasons for cancelling, rumor has it they feel threatened by the type of folks who enjoy the derby and that it brings in more money than all of the other shows combined?but that's probly just a rumor, after all the couldn't call themselves the fair board if they weren't "fair"

IT COST ALOT OF MONEY FOR A FAMILY TO GO THE FAIR . WHY WOULD ANY ONE EVEN GO TO THE OTHER FAIRS IF THEY DONT HAVE SHOWS THAT YOU ARE INTRESTED IN.I HAVE SPENT MONEY AT PUTNAM CO FAIR FOR 9 YEARS WATCHING THE DERBYS. I GUESS ITS TIME TO GO TO THE FAIR THAT HAS THE SHOWS THAT I WANT TO SEE.SORRY PC FAIR....

The putnam co fair board decided not to have the motorcycle races or the derbys. Why should anyone be upset at hy-111 fair for offering the shows that the people wanty to see. Pc fair didnt want them anyway. They may change ther minds after its over for the year.

A Demolition Derby was planned but the organizer wanted insurance to be provided by the fair board. The fair board could not find anyone willing to write the insurance policy so they could not fulfil th contract.

I was at the board meeting when the fair board canceled the derby. The derby organizer DID provide the insurance to the board. The board had a concern about a clause in the insurance. The clause was just one more thing for them to have a problem about. Iam being told that the fair boards own liability insurance has the same clause in it.I wonder if the boards insurance does have that clause in it,if so, will the canceal the fair. The derby insurance couldnt be used with that clause in it

Well, I contacted those guys at the 111 "fair" about bringing my car out and running with the Chevettes, but apparently those of us with front wheel drive cars aren't welcome out there, so I'll just let my toy sit and collect dust until it's time to go to the fairgrounds in Nashville. Seems a damned shame that some of us have to drive all the way to Nashville just to go racing. Just the usual narrow-minded, backwards-assed thinking that pervades this area...always a reason we CAN'T do something, never a reason why we CAN....

I wonder if the putnam co fair members went to stovers fair this weekend. I was there and seen a lot of people,,,, They were there to see a demo derby.I seen alot of people thet i see every year at the pc fair derbys..I guess the pc fair board should have worked a little harder to have there show. The news paper said mabey next year. Iam afraid next year will never come I have talked to other drivers , They said if cookeville dont want our show, we can go some where else. It dont make any sence why the would cancel the show and still have to pay the promoters contracts.

I dont think any of the fair board members want to be seen at stovers fair. They wouldnt want to have to explain why the derby was canceled at pc fair.I did see a ex board members working at stovers fair.I do beleive that the fair board has made a huge bo bo by canceling their derbys. I do beleive they will realize it after the fair is over. And as for next year, drivers have spent money for this year. They may not want to fool with them next year. The drivers may cancel on the board without a good explained reason why.
