Today I was not impressed. It was hot and only a few stores were open. I noticed that it is both a Mall and Flea Market. It should have been cleaned up before it was opened to the public. The owners of the mall The owners Jack and Johnny Stites and David Crabtree have no clue how to run a business. The advertisement is poor and lacking when it comes to letting the public and interstate traffic know that they are actually open all week. If things do not change then it will only get worse and the doors will close again. What a public humiliation it will be for the owners who have invested so much money into it already. It will also be tragic for the business owners who have relocated and invested their time in money into their stores. I have to agree with the posts from other forums that changes need to be made ASAP.

I agree things need to change but things are the way they are. The Mall is a work in progress and it has come a long way from the first of the year when the first part of the flea market was opened. The Mall should have been fixed up while it was empty but it wasn't--people should live with it. There has been a lot of money put into this project by the owners, vendors and store owners . Mistakes have been made and(hopefully) learned from. Why was the Mall left sitting for over eight years? Shouldn't have been but it was. Nothing can be done about that now. People can gripe all they want to but this is still a free country and we are all allowed to do what we want with our property(as long as no laws wee broken). I've been out to the Mall a few times and not many of the stores were open which is a shame considering the money put into these businesses(I know a few of the business owners there). From the information I've gotten the Mall part is suppose to be open seven days a week. Many of the businesses aren't open like they should because they are still in the process of setting up. A few have moved from other locations and some have had problems with the space they leased(water, AC among others)--this has slowed them down. Problems between the owners and JCPenneys have been worked out and the doors between JCP and the rest of the Mall will open soon(again, hopefully). I've been told that powerwashing the building(as many posts have requested) is on the list. Things haven't gone smoothly or as fast as some would but they are making progress. Even after all of the time and money that has been put into this project--it still might fail. Success or failure, I wish them luck.
failure

It is going to fail because the owners don't care about the business owners. Pure and simple. They have made money and now are sitting back taking in the cash while nothing else is getting done. It doesn't take a scientist to make a TO DO LIST and pay people to do it. They are just lazy

I want to point out that no advertisement has been done by the Mall to promote the Mall.....just the flea market.

Have you been out there lately? Yep, more could be done faster but they are making progress. I hope it doesn't fail and I plan to spend my money there when it is straightened out. All of the stores there are locally owned businesses(except JCP) and deserve a shot at trying to make a living.I do agree that they need to advertise and hopefully they will start asap.

You whining idiots had rather see an empty building standing there?at least someone is trying. Appreciate that and get a life of your own and you won't need to come in here and run down someone who is doing more than you are to help the town of cookeville.

Possibly so--but I know a couple of the tenants(and one that is moving in)and I've not heard any talk about anybody moving out. The Mall owners do need to support the tenants more(as in advertising the Mall being open).

True--but name calling doesn't do any good either.Call someone an asshole and they'll usually talk louder. People have the right to whine(as well as a right to tell someone to quit whining). The Cookeville Mall will get up and running and make the storeowners a shitload of money and all of those who predicted(hoped?)it would fail will be eating crow. I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

Went to the mall today. Coming along preTty good I'd say. The record store is horribly over priced. Old used worn out roughed up LPs will NOT sell for 7,8,10 dollars or higher like this guy has them priced. I know, I've been buying and selling LPs for years. Even LPs in great shape aren't gonna bring more than 2 or 3 bucks. Most all this guy had was beat all to hell and he still had 10 bucks on some of them.why even bother to clutter up shelf space with total crap like herb alpert ? I buy a load of LPs the herb alpert and perry comos go straight to the dump. No one will buy them. Pat benatar LP for 8 dollars? Dream on.

The music store looks good. The snack bar smelled great.

The flea market end is still a stinking nasty smelly rat hole.

This place may make it but customers were sparse today.
