Cookeville's redevelopment incentive tool..."As approved, the city is hoping to encourage redevelopment of dilapidated residential and bring new residential and mixed-use development with incentives. The city and planning commission could modify or waive minimum requirements in development, giving a developer flexibility in making proposals that increase density of development"..........sou nds to me, simply put, the city is going to start condeming properties (eminent domain excuse) for the local slum lords, so that more apartments can be built to generate additional tax revenue..

Sounds like a bunch of BS. Did they ever ask the people of Cookeville if they WANT "increased density of development?" It sounds like the apartment monopolies did some manhandling and got what they wanted.

This is not about eminent domain or the city condemning property. The process must be started by a developer that wants to renergize neighborhoods that are in a transistion period.
