<quoted text> So you are saying that all these owners are just going to go pay these taxes? You are saying the county commission voted down new school because of Ms. Chaffin and the bills for the money the state/trustee mailed out? I don't think so. These owners are very smart business people. They know how much they have in the building, they know the rents, expenses, etc. I think everyone needs to relax and let the appeal process and judgement of the appeals tell the story. Then when the state and county are ordered to delete this mess they have made they shoudl send owners and Ms. Chaffin an apology letter.
I think you need to stop telling peope to relax and "take it", frankly. There is definitely a "mess" here but it is NOT appropriate, no matter how delusional you are, to entertain the idea that it will be "deleted", by the "state and county". Just what is your line of reasoning? The curtain will not be dropped to hide this abomination from the public's view any longer. Needless to say, I am anxiously awaiting your reply; please state why you think the state and county will be "corrected", not by the rationale of "business as usual", but from a legal and/or procedural misunderstanding that you feel we are misled somehow.

What relevance is the owner's cash flow relating to his real estate ownership..to the amount of real estate taxes he is assessed? The rental receipts affect it, you say? Obviously these folks are able to handle their money to their own benefit, that doesn't give them a free-pass as far as the taxpayers of this county are concerned. In NOT paying their fair and legal share of the real estate taxes, they are ALSO overburdening our schools by housing so many starter-families with school-aged children who in a BALANCED system contribute to the cost of schooling them in the public schools from the rental amounts collected by the property owners. In a balanced system the property owners pay real estate taxes based upon other things as well as the number and amount of livable units they are collecting rent from. Our school system has been pillaged, also, and deprived of the income from these landlords through their agent, Ms. Chaffin. This woman was put in an elected office presumably to represent the PUBLIC's interest, not those few families apparently revered because of their ability to manipulate their finances to their obvious advantage.

Would channel 5 put something on TV "out of context" then post the the whole document on their website for everyone to see? That doesn't make sense. I think Channel 5 is doing it's job by reporting this story. I hope the authorities have been watching.

Uhm. they do pay, more than anyone else in the county. I would bet these people pay more a year just in property tax you or I make in 5 years.
Your handle is quite appropriate for you. In essence, what you are saying is that if people who make more than what I do in five years,, they should be allowed to pay a greatly reduced or no tax on their properties? Oh I certainly wish my older relatives would have handed down some nice real estate property for me to keep rolling into more and more properties. Or perhaps my parents could give me my own little business of rentals. Some did work hard for what they have, but many just was born into it.

RIGHT! And in at least one case per: NewsChannel5, they were only assessed for the PROPERTY, not the buildings, that got corrected, and when NC5 returned, it was off the books AGAIN! This is an outrage!
