'Anonymous' Posters to Pay $13 Million for Defamatory Comments
A Texas couple who filed a defamation lawsuit over three years ago against anonymous posters on the Internet forum Topix.com won a $13.8 million judgment from a jury.
So yeah...so much for your hopes and dreams or delusions of being "anonymous" on here LOL

What a joke....everything about this. After reading the posts anyone can recognize that the people on here are bored, ignorant, insignificant, troublemakers that have way too much time on their hands (get a job). No one of any importance gets on here and reads this crap, much less puts any weight into the words of an anonymous poster. I have been having to get on here daily in an effort to defend myself against an angry little man and his devoted lovers' slanderous and defaming remarks about me but the more I am on here, the more I realize that it is not really necessary because of the type of garbage on here and the ones that feed off of this junk are meaningless to me. This whole bit about suing- if you want answers, TALK TO A LAWYER- not the idiots on here that think they have a law degree because they have watched judge joe brown or judge judy while they sit in front of the t.v. snacking. Believe me though, you mention Topix to any lawyer around here and they will just roll their eyes. Accusing someone of being a pedophile may be a different story. If it bothers you that bad just stay off of here. I know I am.

Wouldn't it only be considered "slander" and be recognized in a court of law if it affected your finances?(i.e getting a job)

To clarify, you're saying that no one with a sustained career in law, or alike, frequent Topix?
