So, I'm sitting at home, miding my own bidness and whatnot, and I get this knock on my door. A short conversation later, I apparently now own this dad-gummed book called "the Great Controversy" put out by Pacific Press and some sort of.... I guess you'ld call it a "tract" or whatever about Happiness and life or some such nonsense. I ain't interested in the tract so much, but the book I found interesting because it mentions Rome and Romans and probably Catholicism or something, I don't know, there would really be no way of knowing but it's rather obtuse to begin with and somewhat preachy. Anybody else ever run across these people? Or, I guess, just had your day disturbed by them? Anybody knowledgeable about such affairs know anything about this and care to discuss? From my perspective this stupid book is chock-full of errors and inconsistencies and somewhat wildly disrespectful in it's ignorance of all things Biblical. A bit Anglo-centric, too, if you ask me, which ain't a crime necessarily but considering the ethnicity of the chick who knocked on my door I do find a bit surprising. Maybe it's just a new cult I don't know anything about yet. Anybody ran across this?

May I ask if you bought this book from a young black lady with a large do? I saw her here in my neighborhood and we don't answer the door unless we know you're coming, too dangerous to open to just anyone. A van drops off these people and comes back to pick them up later. If you live in a neighborhood where the houses are tight, you're going to get bombarded with this type of sales calls. Don't know anything about the book. How much did you pay for it?

No, she was not black that I noticed, and I didn't find it illegal or anything, and I did notice they kept in contact with those that dropped them off. I actually thought that was sensible. Mine ain't one of those "tight" neighborhoods, truth be told, you have to have a certain amount of balls knock on MY front door in the first place, otherwise, I'd have never answered, but you bring up an interesting point. I feel bad for those poor bastards at Cedar Pointe and over in that rich area west of that Nashville State Campus and over around Capshaw Woods!

Adventists. I guess that makes sense. Least it wasn't Mormon's, or Jehova Witni, though that's close enough I guess. They might come back, I'll have a nice chat with them if they do. If they have a lick of sense, they will not.

Lol. Let us know about that chat if it should ever happen. Last year we bought a cookbook from a Seventh Day Adventist. She was a nice young girl, but sometimes you have to put a lid on buying things from door to door people. It can hurt the wallet. Actually I don't really like someone ringing the doorbell to sell. My home is my sanctuary and I buy enough stuff at work with mothers with kids selling various things.
