It was apparent during the 2010 election cycle that most American's were fed up with incumbants. As a whole the nation was just tired of the corruption and deal making that usually occurs when one is allowed to stay in office for term after term.

We also saw several political upsets here in the state of Tennessee where incumbents whom had held office for decades were defeated.

Now my question is will this anti-incumbent sentiment carry through to the local elections here in Putnam County during the 2012 cycle? Will we as a community decide to come together and attempt to break up the so called good-ole-boy network? Or are we as a community satisfied with our locally elected officials?

I brought this topic up because I would like to see a discussion (civil)on the candidates (incumbants,up-and-coming). And to also get a feel for what direction my community is intesrested in going.

What I meant was some compalin that it is always the same individuals who run for and are elected to office. Just wondering if people in this county want new representation all around.

I think we made our statement on the State level but local county only has one race and it would be hard to beat her.

I thought there would some school board members and county commisioners up for re-election. There are a lot in this area that I am not familiar with which is another reason I posted this comment. I want to learn more about current and potentially new elected officials.

I personally would like to see some of the younger generation get involved. Sometimes we need a fresh perspective. We need to encourage our young people to take an interest in and to become involed in the process.

I think we should start thinking about who we are going to vote for in 2012. The presidential primary and election are also at this time, which are very important, but I feel like we have more influence at a local level. Sometimes change can be a good thing.

Exactly right! Often some feel they are out of the loop or just do not take an interest. It should begin locally. Involve as many people as possible and make them active in the process. We need more people to take an interest. A comment was made about someone being unbeatable. They must be doing an exceptional job if that is the case! How long has this person been in office and what district do they hold office?

There is only one county office to run in 2012. Some of the city seats in Algood, Baxter and Monterey but that is all that is up for reelection. 2010 Was the election for all county office but one.

One lady on the school board doesn't really say much. Senator Corker you never hear about. Baxter Mayor will be tough to beat. Assessor lady has done a great job with the web site. We use it everyday. Monterey is always fun to watch because they have no money and no industry.

The Assessor office is on the top of the list as one of the most important offices in the county if not the most important. Last time we thought we needed change in that office appraisals and the public suffered. Nobobys tax notice was right, the county budget was wrong because of. Rhonda has done a great job and has made the public access to the office wonderful. Everything is now on the internet and up to date. We use her office most everyday and I VOTE NO change or we might end up like we were before. The Assessor's office consist of more than just somebody going in as sitting as a secretary. It takes experience and knowledge to be a great leader in that office.
