I have a personal Regions account, but would like to set up a business savings and checking account elsewhere (I get confused easily at times).

Which bank has the highest interest rates on savings accounts, the friendliest staff, easy online banking, etc?

Community back is really good with escrow accounts/business. I use it for work. User friendly for online banking. Not sure on interest rates as far as that goes, sorry

I am not sure about the interest rates on savings accounts, but Jackson Bank across the street from Kroger has a very, very friendly staff and easy online banking. I used to bank at First National, but I thought most of the staff I encountered were very rude. The ladies at Jackson are sweet as pie. They talked me through on how to set up my online banking, which is really easy to use and understand.

Just do not use American Bank and Trust. They are in trouble with the Feds.

You have got to be kidding me!!! I have had to go in that bank three times in my life and each time they were full on jerks. I never would have gone back after the first time but my job required it. After the last time, I told my boss I would quit before I went back in there....he had the account closed & 1st TN now gets the business. I would hate to have whatever issues those people have that make them so mean-spirited.

Maybe you had a bad attitude.

I've never had any problem with US Bank. Their online services are fantastic and they're great about working with you when you run into a problem (being charged twice for merchandise, etc.)

I would not recommend Bank of Putnam County. I used them for a few years and money was being deposited into my account that wasn't mine. Apparently there was another account holder with the same name as mine, which means that one who works there doesn't pay attention to details.

I agree.
I used to have to go in there every single week to deposit my check and NEVER were they rude or mean spirited.
I was young and still learning it all and they always took their time to explain everything to me.

I know an insurance man in Putnam, Smith, and DeKalb Counties that can do anything a bank can do and more. He gives great customer service..when you need it the most. His name is Ken Jones, and he is with Monumental Insurance Company.

...what does an insurance guy have to do with banks? I seriously doubt anybody wants to trust a single individual with their savings.

Maybe so...I am just a faceless entity on the internet, but for what it is worth...my attitude was not bad when I entered Jackson bank .......but it sure was soured after I left, each & every time. Maybe my appearance offended them, I don't know. I'm glad others have been more fortunate than I in the way they were treated but the fact remains, I was treated so shabbily that I will never give them another chance. Maybe they did not like my boss and let their feeling run over onto me, I don't know. Maybe the customer before me was a jerk...I have no idea but I know I was as polite & kind as I know how to be... & it was met with rudeness, and I was treated as if I was there to cause them some personal trouble or something. Maybe their reasons for treating me the way they did were valid....but all you have is my word....I don't blame you if you want to find out for yourself, more power to you and good luck.

I have been passing aquintances w/ Kenny(my grandmother always called him kenny) for more than 25 years. He seems to be a good guy and was fair to my Grandmother on her insurance but I had no idea he could do stuff besides that. I tend to agree with the poster "someone", can he really offer all the services a bank can offer for a business account? I can see maybe reaching the level of service given personal accounts but there are some things that go along with a business account that it seems would be difficult to offer without a real bank backing it up.

I know someone above had trouble with Bank of Putnam County, but I have banked there for the last five years and have had several small loans through BPC over the last 10 years and have had great experience with them. I guess that's how it is, one person will have good things to say and another won't based on their personal experience. I like BPC because they are a local bank and if I have problems I can go in and talk to an actual person. I use to have an account at Regions and they are the worst in town imo.

Look, there are rude people everywhere, I just try and keep a smile on my face no matter what. Although professional people shouldn't bring their attitudes to work with them, we are human and things happen-you never know what someone may be going through. I just know that those bad attitudes have nothing to do with me, try and give the person a smile and go on with my day. If they really upset me or are overly rude, I talk to a manager, I don't bash the ENTIRE place just because one person may have been having a bad day. Here's some advice: if someone is giving you attitude in their place of business, stop and ask them if you did something to upset them. Usually this will bring people down a notch when you call them on their cruddy attitude to their face. If EVERY time you go to the place people are rude, I would take the time to write the President of the Bank and the branch manager a letter about the cruddy customer service and close my account and never go back. Some people just can't be helped.

Cheers! Good luck on your bank search.

I think credit unions usually have the best rates. I belong to Middle TN Credit Union and the provide wonderful service and are still small enough to know most members by name. I think you qualify to join if your a resident of Putnam county.

Don't bank with American Bank and Trust. I have heard from a very reliable source all the problems they have had in the last few years. The people that work there are nice but the new management is horrible. The new CEO, Mr Maynord, has no idea what he is doing. It's a shame they ran off Mr Forgey. The new management and the board of directors play very dirty and are not good people at all.

Marty Maynord is the President of the bank and he is a snake. So is the new Community President in Cookeville Jimmy Hull. Steve Forgey is now the President of Community Bank and Trust on Willow Ave. He is a good, christian and honest man. He treats all his customers like they have a million dollars at his bank.

I dont know about Cookeville BPC but, Monterey is nowhere to bank unless, you like your business told all over. I have heard from a good source a couple of the loan officers there love to gossip about what people have in bank, and what they owe. That is not very professional if you ask me!

Progressive Bank on Interstate Drive has great customer service and pays interest of 3.9 on your checking if you bank on-line. They are small and know their customers.

Well, Who do you think would be offer better rates? A bank or an insurance company? Yes sure a bank has a building that you can see. An insurance company has a home office, and sometimes a regional office, and sometimes a district office, and maybe a branch office. Most insurance agents operate out of their house now. A bank has what they call a C. D.(More commonly called a Certiifcate of Depression) Less risk involved with this C. D. idea, but also less rewards. Like I said above, you can find honest insurance agents, honest bankers, and so forth. There is good and bad in every thing in life. You just got to find the good ones, and Mr. Jones is one of the good ones out there. He really cares about his customers.
