They have sent me a bill for $206 dollars. They say they bought out the contracts from National Fitness and I owed them. They opened their business October 1, 2011. October bank statement showed money taken from my account for National Fitness. I canceled the automatic withdrawel. Absolute Fitness now plans to turn me over to a collection agency. They never informed me I was a client of theirs. Is this legal? Can any business do this?

I hated that place I went there for a few months they suckered me into a contract & then after a little while the person in the childcare area was hateful to my little girls because they didn't put a lid back on a marker ! How stupid is that? & further more I didn't sign a contract with the new place and I'm not paying them shit!!

Listen, child, you never write "$206 dollars."

You either write "206 dollars" or use "$206."

The way you have rendered this, one would read it as "two hundred six dollars dollars." Now that was redundant, now, wasn't it?

I'm afraid I will have to assign a grade of D+ for your post. I expect improvement, young man.

You need to read your contract with National. Most of the time there is a clause in there that states if they sell or change names, your contract is assumed by the next company until the expiration date. Which sounds like this is what happened. Why would Absolute buy the place if this wasn't in National's contracts. Wouldn't make business sense. So if it is in your contract, then you owe the money. You can't "counter sue" them as someone put it. You would've had to pay it if National was still in buiness anyway.

absolute is still the same exact company only different owner and name. they still have the same employees, same contracts, and same equipment. the only other difference is they dropped their package prices by like four dollars. if it is really that big of a deal then you should buy out of your contract. it is legal and alot cheaper than waiting to be turned into a collection agency.

Bet they filed for business bankruptcy and reopened under a new name. That nail place in the Wal-Mart did the same thing. Used to be DaVinci Nails and they cheaply reopened under DaVi Nails so the cheap bastards didn't have to spend hardly money on the sign.

I've been a member here for many years. Yes, the company National Fitness was a corporation only concerned about money. The people who took over inherited that bad reputation. It is in the contract that NFC could sell it out. You can't be pissed at the new owners for doing something that was legal just because NFC didn't explicitly tell you or because you never came in the gym to know what was going on. You signed the contract; it's your responsibility to pay it and know what's going on. The new owner has done a lot to improve the place and the way they do business. You can now cancel your contract if you're really unhappy where NFC would never let you. Don't blame other people because you signed a contract without reading it.

I have used Racquet Master for years. Never had any issues or concerns. They are family owned since the 70's. I considered changing gyms because my work schedule changed but now Racquet Master has 24/7 pass cards.

Been going there for 20 years. Love it, love the owners. Never had any problems and never will. They are good, honest folk. Not the fanciest, but the people make up for it by far. Always helpful. Also like the clientel at Racquet Master.
