It might not seem fair, but that's his right as a business owner. As long as isn't breaking any laws, he's free to do what he wishes with the revenue. You can't honestly say that you wouldn't do the same thing if you were in his shoes. What's the point of working hard to run a business if you can't reap the benefits of your success?

That old guy has lived frugally for the last however long. He has run a business here in Cookeville providing goods, jobs and services for what? like 50 years? I am no fan of IWC's pricing structure but hey, people buy from them. At least he came by his $$ fairly honest, There are plenty of crooks around with big houses, pick on them.... If a big house does it for you the who has any right to judge? Some people like a fancy car, some a fancy boat...in the end...as long as you don't bother me...I could care less what you spend your money on. I would rather see the $$ being spent here on materials & labor over new mercedes for all his relatives. At least the $$ is pretty much staying around here.

What is a good wage 10.00 an hour working in a freezer all night. Better wages are in Nashville for same job.
well

if they make 10.00 an hour that is pretty good for cookeville. Even if you make 15.00 in nashville for the same job it equals itself out. you can rent a dump apartment in cookeville for 250 to 300. in nashville a dump will cost atleast 400, but dump in a area where you wont get shot at or robbed will be around 500. I guess to me a good wage is a wage that will put a roof over your head and food on the table. benefits are just icing on the cake as many companies dont even offer them. hell id stand in line for a job like that. most working families would do the same. And i agree 100% with you "seriously" about the temp agency crap. people blame illegals for lowering wage but temp agencies have lowered wage far more than anything else!! I wish they would ban those places.

If you have anything at all negative to say about Mr. Jimmy Mackie (posted by nothing up there as "old man" - you're a jerk)then you don't know Mr. Mackie & you should keep your mouth shut. He has helped so many people, benefits, this community, etc by his generous giving over 50+ years. They have great values & where they choose to spend their money is their business. Where is the money you've worked for all your life? What do you have to show for it? "Exactly". If you don't like where you work or if you think you don't make enough money there, go find another one - anyone would like to work at that place - just leave, someone else would be surely grateful for a chance at your job.

Seriously, how dumb are you?

The man runs a business, if you think he is doing a bad job, or greedy then by all means go start your own business and put him out of business, it's easy... right?

If you are unhappy with the wages, then perhaps you should look around. First, realize that a huge portion of the nation is unemployed, most of them low-skilled. So people will be happy to have a job, namely yours. If you are underpaid you should be easily able to find a higher paying job, do it already and stop whining like a kid.

Lastly, who has been getting raises in the last 4 years or so? The economy is in the toilet, businesses are making less money, their costs are going up, and you want to just demand more and more?
