So who will it be? Lane Ward said there is interest within the program and outside the program...and even out of state interest.
Does anyone have an opinion on who it will be or should be?

I guarntee you it will be the least qualified. Lane said he would be putting a search committee together to go through the applicants. I wonder how many parents from the booster club or some rich kids parent or kids parent with certain last names that will be on the search committee or at least have an influence on who will get hired? Lane ward isn't looking out for the programs best interest. The Cookeville program will NEVER get the dirty politics of football. I took my son to Baxter after his freshman year. I agree we don't have alot of talent but neither does cookeville. At least at Baxter you don't have the politcs in the football program and the baseball program like you do at cookeville.

Get a coach that can get the player ready to play in college. How many cookeville player go on to play in college. Not many! We have a few at small colleges like TTU. Tyler wolfe walked on at Tennessee but still not many for a high school of this size. Take a look at other schools in the state of this size and just see how many kids they send to division 1 colleges. Hopefully CHS can get it together and start turning out great players.

Gary Rankin sounds good. How about some of the successful smaller schools with winning records. Like the Gordonsville or Smith County. Didn't Gordonsville win a state title?

The next coach needs to be an outsider with a proven track record who will bring fresh ideas to the program....Baseball: Chaffin keeps playing schools he knows he can beat. He wants to become the winningest coach at CHS and have the field named after himself. He got lucky with new classification: a weak district he can win while playing A and AA schools to pad his win total.

I really don't understand this because my nephew played ALOT and is good. One of his best friends is of the mexican persuasion and also was as starter...how can people say that only if you are rich your kid gets to play? I don't get it?? Does anyone really know those kids that started? They were not all rich, I say more likely the other way around......

Great hire. Finally Cookeville got it right. This is good for Chs and the future of the football program. Scott Cook was a great guy but he had alot invested into the wrestling program and wanted to spend more time with his family. I respect that. I really think Coach Jimmy Maynord can turn Cookeville into a program that can compete every year with the big boys. I hope Jim Ledford is moved up to help with the Varsity progam and Coach Hughes, Coach Rap and Coach Jones stay on to help. Everything else needs overhauling.

UHS has 26 seniors and would whip CHS this year. For 3rd year in a row, best player in county is at UHS.......just ask Chambers or Maynard

great all around? Getting beat by a smaller 5a school by 50 points is great? Replacing that 5a school with 1a Monterey is great? Upperman and Livingston have harder schedules than you guys.

Yeah that 5a school that beat CHS like that happens to be Beech High, which won the 5A state championship. They beat everybody that way and there's not much difference between 5A&6A football. Just like there's not much difference between 1-2, 2-3 etc.
Cookeville had one of the toughest out of district schedules in the state last year, Brentwood, Riverdale, Mt.Juliet, Beech & Tullahoma. Upperman want to play that schedule "Playa"? Didn't think so. No way could the Bees even compete in the district the Cavs play in, and yes it's probably the weakest in 6A right now. Do you realize how BAD you are?
