I've tried to sell them before without results. Most people don't want to fool with having to crack them or the mess. I will check my walnuts tomorrow and if they aren't any good I will buy some from you. Good luck.

i have a yard full of these things and i am looking to sell them. i really dont know much about them but i have a three month old to care for and every little bit helps. how can you tell if they are good or not? and do you have any advise on how to crack these things because i think they would be easier to sell that way.

We have always used a regular hammer to break them. You have to crack a few before you learn how hard to hit without crushing the kernels. You want the kernels to come out in large pieces. My mother and I were picking up her walnuts today and I asked her if she knew anyone who bought them. A friend of hers sells picked out walnuts for $15.00 a quart. If you need more help on hulling, drying, etc. please let me know. I have done this all of my life.

A hammer works beter, most nutcrackers want do the job because the walnuts are tough to crack. The last place I heard was buying walnuts in the hull in bulk was someplace in Westmoreland and its not worth the drive.

I haven't heard of anyone near cookeville that is hulling them out and buying them this year. Sometimes the Farmers Co-op in Byrdstown hulls them out and buys them. I think they give you about 13.00 for 100 pounds after the hull is taken off of them.
