Does anyone know where murder mart is on Dixie and Jere Whitson in Cookeville? I think a cashier was killed about 20 years ago in this corner store.
the man was killed in a robbery. What is so terrible is that the police knew he was robbing it ahead of time and were in the back of store watching every second...

I do remember a little about the murder on Freehill. My grandmother lives down the street from the trailer park there. I was pretty young though, don't remember all the details.
And my husband said something about a guy killing his girlfriend (?) and putting her body in a Doritos truck, then the next day admitting he did it (?) Anyone know anything about this? Please correct me if I am wrong.
Also, wasn't there an "incident" a few years back that involved drunk police officers, and a shootout at the Conoco on Jere Whitson?(Also known as Murder Mart) And the clerk was also killed?
In 2003, my son's father was killed in a car accident after the police ran over his body on the road, after he had been ejected out of the truck. Of course, that was ruled accidental.**rolls eyes**(Jason Blamy, January 2003)
The woman who was killed in the trailer park on freehill rd was Pamela Spurlock, she worked at the Shoney's that used to be on willow ave years ago. Her 5 year old son found her dead when he woke up the next morning, some guy was later arrested for DUI confessed to the crime and told the cops where they could find the knife that he used.

What about Don Calahan murdering the 91 year old man for $1?

The case I really wish someone could recall is around 1990 when Jason Kennedy murdered his grandmother.

I remember that case well. They said he shot her 17 times and he
plead guilty to avoid going to trial.

What was his motive and do you know what happened to him? I went to school with him and talked to him on occasion.

He got mad because he wanted a sports car and she wouldn't go along with him. At the time they said the music he was listening to mentioned something about shooting someone 17 times. As far as I know he is serving life without parole. Always wondered about him and why he refused a trial. He was a quiet clean cut boy that didn't fit the typical "look" of a killer.

And, about Jason Martin - wasn't it proved that he had died of an asthma attack which was probably the result of the fight? Thats what I've heard for years.
No, this is absolutely untrue. I am the mother of Jason's daughter, who was only 2 when he was MURDERED. There were absolutely no offensive wounds on him and no wounds on his MURDERER. There was no fight. Anyone who knew Jason knew he wouldn't fight a flea. And he didn't have asthma. I sat through the entire trial, and appeal, which the MURDERER lost btw. The autopsy showed that the cause of death was murder, with multiple blunt force trauma. The medical examiner testified that the fact that the he was beaten and stomped in the head so bad that his skull was crushed and the sac around his brain was ruptured was something no one could've survived. I know that you, whoever you are, are just a victim of hearing rumors, but I can't tell you the pain that this comment caused when I read it. Feel free to Google the case and the appeal which has a lot of the case into comes up as a PDF and you can read it.

i know everybody that was there and even if he died from asthma attack it was the result of the beating he was getting and there was a whole bunch of ppl kickin on jason not just tubby but tubby was the one fighting with em in the beginning didnt he get like hardly any trouble for that nite but a while later he got popped with a ki and sum other drugs and got 33 years in prison on a run from nashville or sumthing

Um, if you know everyone, then you know it was Tug not Tubby. Tubby is Shawn Lafever's brother. Don't know his real name. TUG, the murderer is William Floyd Cartwright, Jr. And he WAS CONVICTED of Jason's murder and LOST and also LOST his appeal. He was sentenced to LIFE IN PRISON, which is a 50 year sentence. You can look him up on the Tennessee Felony Offender Lookup site and see his potential parole date. If you want to Google the case, as I've said in my other comment, then the PDF of Cartwright's appeal will come up and have info on the case and the conviction which was upheld. It's Marvin Martin, Jr. what you need to look up, he just went by Jason. Our daughter was only 2 when he was murdered. I accidentally came across this site and wish I hadn't.:-(

Back in the early 70's, there was a murder case of a child, first child murder of the decade in Putnam Co. The mother claimed that the child was abducted and results was that the little boy, age 3 was murdered by the stepfather (Adams) and was taken to the woods, somewhere else,(cant't remember all details, someone remember this?) and the police finally put 2 and 2 together. Convicted the mother and stepfather. Stepfather was on death row for a long time. Don't remember if the Adams man, died in prison or not. The mother served time, also. Would like to know of the results of the ppl involved. Long time ppl of this county should remember this. Shocked the county and brought new light to child abusers.
I remember this case. They found the child close to Byrdstown bridge. The step father beat the child while it was eating for spilling something I think. It has been so long I have forgot the details. If anyone know what has happened to the ones that did this please share.

Floyd Cartwright what a piece of shit. I remember Jason Martin he was kinda scary but he did not deserve to be beat to death. Still can't believe that happened. Man those were two scrappy guys too bad it couldn't have just been A great fistfight that pos had to take it too far and murder with his bare hands. Neanderthal. Btw why do blacks kick people that they have already beat in a fight?
Yes Floyd Cartwright was a piece of shit. But I knew Jason personally and he was always very nice to me. He was a quiet type. So maybe the aura he gave scared people but he was a nice guy. No one deserves what happened to him.

I also think that the murder of Sen. Tommy Burks was absolutely the most memorable. His wife Charlotte is my cousin and it was not only a rough time for the family but for our county. I'll never forget that day. I know exactly where I was and what I was doing when my mom told me. My dad was there at the scene before they removed him. He and my dad were very close. I loved him dearly and I hope Low Life Looper rots in HELL for what he did.

The child vomited at the table and he beat him to death
for vomiting. He was put in prison. At that time he had alot of death threats from the people in prison. They maybe in prison but most do not like a child killer. I thought someone posted that he is dead now,(maybe wrong about that).

James Adams died in prison after being convicted of beating Patrick Adams, his step-son, to death and dumping the precious body in Pickett Co.
