And, about Jason Martin - wasn't it proved that he had died of an asthma attack which was probably the result of the fight? Thats what I've heard for years.

I believ Mr Burks being shot would have to be it...Looper is crazy.....however back about 10 years or so ago maybe a little longer wasn't there a man who shot another man in the head over a woman...the guy that did the shooting was a Cookeville man and the one who got shot was a construction worker from out of town and I think he was working on the CHS when it was first being built....the guy that did the shooting was a black man and I think he is out now

Back in the early 70's, there was a murder case of a child, first child murder of the decade in Putnam Co. The mother claimed that the child was abducted and results was that the little boy, age 3 was murdered by the stepfather (Adams) and was taken to the woods, somewhere else,(cant't remember all details, someone remember this?) and the police finally put 2 and 2 together. Convicted the mother and stepfather. Stepfather was on death row for a long time. Don't remember if the Adams man, died in prison or not. The mother served time, also. Would like to know of the results of the ppl involved. Long time ppl of this county should remember this. Shocked the county and brought new light to child abusers.
A truck driver stopped above Byrdstown bridge in one of the curve pull offs for some reason. And seen the child down over the hill.

What about Lawrence Verble in Putnam County above Algood in the early 80's. Shot after closing his night club.
Was that the nightclub close to the Overton County line? If so I remember that murder it had some High ups mixed up in it. It was talked about alot. Did they ever solve that one?

What is this? I don't know John Averitt & my husband has never spent time with a John Averitt, either! Nor is it apparent to me what this comment has to do with the thread it is in, but I do occasionally google my name to make sure it isn't being used falsely and found this. Just wondering why someone who doesn't know me or my family at all would mention me in a thread about Cookeville murders...WEIRD!!! Notice that I'm not ashamed to use my real name, either :) I would never write anything I wasn't willing to take the credit or blame for.

This was mentioned earlier in this thread. The step-dad was a truck driver and disposed of little Patrick's body on the old curving road just after passing over the old Obey River
Bridge in Pickett County. He had killed him at their home in Algood. Actually, a hitchhiker walking that area at the time discovered the body. James Adams, step-father did die in prison.

Yeah it was Ridgewood trailer park, i used to live there. I can't remember her name but, her son was 7 and seen the whole thing from a hole in his bedroom door. He ran down to my brothers house which is the brown house at the front of the park and he had her blood on his feet from where he walked through it exiting the trailor. Don't remember if they ever solved the case.
