Yes absolutely right. They are going to try to get her position elected again. I think it's a great idea. That way that position will work for the people and not just work for the school board. She has been awful!

I agree with you. The public needs to have the school boards books audited. She's doing something with all the money. We had plenty before she came and all she's done is cut cut and still cutting. Airhart where is all the money? Does anybody know how to go about getting the public to look at the books?

Well you may be right about her but two things I know for sure, there was not "plenty' of money before she got there. The budget has been slashed for at least the last ten years due to lack of funding from the county commission. Second the school board books are audited every year by the state and every penny has to be accounted for. I am not for or against her but just wanted to comment on this.

You have been provided with misinformation. When Dr. Matin was the superintendant, his budget was far more than what was approved. He had to cut out extra's like driver's ed. Martin even threatened not to open the school until his budget was passed and agreed upon. During that time, there was an internal battle going on and Martin lost. The school has never had plenty and all superintendants have to look closely at their budget every year. There have been excess programs in the past such as driver's ed that could be handled by a dfferent entity. I'd rather have more funds directed toward math, English, sciences, and other basics. We don't need dance classes and such. There are dance studios around here that teach that. This is what Dr. Airhart is faced with. People have differing opinions but I was there with both superintendants and Dr. Airhart is competant whereas Dr. Martin was an arrogant bully and incompetant as a superintendant. Dr. Martin could't manage his own money much less manage a budget for the county school system. Martin didn't make payments on his house for months saying it was an "oversight". This hit the newspaper when the banks were going to foreclose. He had ignored the bank notices and then had no money to pay even though he had a high salary. Dr Derryberry bailed him out of that and was his buddy. I assure you that Dr. Airhart is responsible and works very hard.

Drivers Ed was cut by Maxine Frasier when she was on the School Board. Her husband Charles had a drivers ed business. So go figure. Increased his business a bunch. Look at how many administrators there are now in the Superintendants office. What a waste!

Not that it matters but Maxine was on the school board and I'm not aware that they do the budget cuts. i believe that it is up to the superintendant to present a budget. A gov. agency handles driver's ed now and a few individuals do it on the side. It's certainly nothing to earn a living doing.

She is definitly a hard worker no matter what your personal opinion is of her work. No one really know how hard she works unless you are right there with her. People will always complain just for the sake of complaining. With Dr. Martin, there were specific issues and serious complaints. With Dr. Airhart, people just make very general complaints because they can't give you any specific issues that are factual.

Someone suggested to me I check out this site. It is interesting that individuals with false names from unknown towns can produce made-up facts and provide critique based on those pretenses. Whether I personally am liked or disliked by any individual, I suppose, is based on the interactions they have had with me in various circumstances. On this, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion.

I cannot, however, allow false statements on PCS budget to go without comment. Any action on my part or on the part of the School Board with use of taxpayer funds has been most transparent and is annually monitored by local and state auditing authorities.

Our school system budget is based on 3 major factors: state funds, local property tax funds, and local sales tax funds. Sales tax has been in a 3-year decline not only locally but also at the state level. The local sales tax shortfall alone has caused a reduction in revenue to our operating budget of more than $2million during that period of time. Annually expenditures for salaries, insurance, and building operational costs have increased at the same time local tax revenues have decreased. It is simple math. The school system has experienced higher expenses to be covered with less sales tax revenue than 4 years ago.

Previous administration lived through 10 years of a sales tax growth. Each year for 10 years, a higher amount of revenue was received by the school system than was approved by the Commission. During my tenure, I have had the opposite experience. Each year for 3 years, less revenue has been received by the school system than was annually approved by the Commission.

I am optimistic that the economy is turning. I hope for the sake of our school system and our children that happens soon. I have been told by auditors, that PCS has had cleaner books in the past 3 years, than through the past several Directors. I am always glad to review finances with anyone interested. Come see for yourself. And please, check your facts before posting false allegations.
I support you

You go girl! Some people don't have a clue, but like to run their mouths anyway. I think you are the hardest working, smartest and by far the best Director of Schools we have had. Don't let the idiots get you down.

Believe me when I tell you that almost everyone that has had anything to do with the school system during the past decade is very happy and relieved to have Kathleen Airhart! I for one wouldn't want that job as my temperament would get in my way and I wouldn't be nearly so tactful with all the foolish and ignorant statements made by people who are no where close to being qualified for the job!

Aithart is a joke . Wake up! She's cut more than any superintendent ever. And still trying to cut. Wake up! And she is a terrible terrible person. She does not care about the children or how anything effects them. Trust me I've delt with her. She didn't give a s--t about my child.
