You people are freakin' crazy. You have no idea what it's like to be called by the THP to assist in a felony traffic stop. That's what Cookeville PD were asked to do. They weren't specificson why the stop was being made and for all they knew it could have been an armed criminal inside. And no officer in their right mind is going to walk up to the car door to shut it not knowing if someone else was hiding inside. Thay did it by the book and that was confirmed by the Maryland State Police department who was assigned to do an independent investigation. And last, you people don't even know which officer shot the dog cause it wasn't Trooper Bush. You think you know everything but in reality you know nothing. Ignorant people really piss me off and that's what all of you are.
The police work for the taxpayers, which means they do what the taxpayers want or find another job. The majority of U.S. citizens who commented about story feel the police overreacted. This was not a FELONY TRAFFIC STOP, just some idiot police officer who called it a felony stop. The video clearly shows a group of officers overreacting.

The officer who shot the dog is still in hiding because the outraged citizens of this country. You need to learn to live by standards of the United States and stop thinking your better than everyone else. There's hardly a week goes by that we don't read about a police officer being arrested for a felony crime.

The police officers who set an example of good example of serving the public are retiring now. They are being replaced by a very few good men but too many with serious problems.

Bull.David Bush is most definitely one of the finest troopers in the entire state.Believe me,you'd be glad to see him if you had trouble.
The fact remains that the THP & the CPD were conducting a felony stop on a vehicle they were told was involved in a robbery.
The dog ran out and he got shot, which is what should've happened. Then Mr. Smoak started screaming and crying like a bitch and trying to run. This while he's still at gunpoint and considered a potential armed robber.Trooper Bush did exactly as all police officers are trained to do under the circumstances and if he didn't do it he would been in MORE trouble with his superiors.
And...All this happened within seconds!
The truth is that NONE of the officers did anything wrong on this stop. Not considering the information they had been given going in.They are all scapegoats. You know it,I know it and they know it.
The REAL problem was the THP dispatchers who didn't pass the same/correct info from the Nashville disrtict to dispatchers at the Cookeville district. They ought to pay for the damn mutt!

He hasn't shot any kids. But if any adult or mutt dog comes running at you while guns are drawn on a felony stop, you're gonna get shot.Any cops in any city or state would do the same.Even in Georgia.

Sorry but you don't know what the hell you're talking about. This WAS a felony stop. Not because some idiot officer said it was,but because the THP dispatchers put out that information.

And...Officer Eric Hall is most definitely NOT in hiding. He never has been. That makes for a good fucking story but that's a lie.
He is still working every day for the Cookeville Police Department.2nd shift,2pm-10pm.
And he's a damn good cop!

Please provide the TCA which makes it a FELONY to leave your wallet at a gas station. Eric Hall was hiding in Gatlinburg, TN at the expense of he taxpayers. When he told too many people who he was the news media reported the story and the Cookeville mayor had to make him work for his pay. The video and the outraged public tells the story about what kind of cop he is.

Cookeville has always been a town with problem cops. It was on the AAA list for speeds traps for years. The Chamber of Commerce pushed to settle the lawsuit because of the loss of business, which means loss of tax revenue. Barney and Goober may have to put the speed trap back up if Cookeville keeps loosing business tax revenue.

The THP and CPD officers DID NOT KNOW that it was a case of a lost wallet when they made the stop. They were advised by the THP dispatchers that they were possibly involved in a robbery. Therefore IT WAS a felony stop.On a felony stop if a dog is unsecured and jumps out it could compromise the whole situation. So THAT DOG WILL BE SHOT! It would be by ANY officer. The public outrage over the video is by people like you who don't know anything about the real life situation of a felony stop and still get on places like this and spout out stupid uninformed lies.
And here's another one.The city of Cookeville NEVER MADE Eric Hall come back to work.HE took VACATION time(yes,it was paid, cause it was time he had built up) to get away from the idiots like you that would actually phone death threats to him,his wife & kids or drive by and honk & at house at all hours of the day & night.OVER A DAMN MUTT! After all the years of good work he out in at Metro P.D.and then at Cookeville.
This was after the city allowed every employee's address, phone # and ss# to be accessed over the internet.Appx.400 or so people(minus the 1,500 CRMC employees).
The truth shall prevail.

A little common sense should have been used. Anyone should understand that a a man, woman, two kids, and two dogs from out of state are most likely not felons. The video shows a 55 pound dog walking around and wagging its tail being shot a trigger happy cop.

FIREPOWER STATED
Firepower first responded that Eric Hall never went into hiding after the dog shooting. In this post he admits that Eric left town because of upset citizens using their freedom of speech to express their opinion of Eric. I call that hiding from the public. He also stated that Eric used his vacation time to hide in Gatlinburg. I didn't know you could build up six months or more of vacation.

Firepower also stated that Eric continued his regular patrol. Eric was assigned to domestic patrol before the shooting and was given administrative duties after the shooting. The citizens of Cookeville are still upset and Eric will probably never return to answering high stress calls.

Firepower is also upset that the news media published Eric's personnel records from city files. Eric Hall filed a lawsuit over the release of his records and lost in every court he took it to. This is called the American Justice system and it's the best in the world. Eric Hall has not won a single court case over the shooting of the dog.

It seems that Firepower and Eric Hall don't understand that the citizens of the United States owns the government and the government (police state) does not own the people.

In the video the dog is happy and wagging his tail, happy to be out of the car and wanting to play. If an officer can't recognize that as a non-agressive dog, I don't want him as an officer. That was a huge embarassment for TN.

Ok,that's lie #1. He was never in hiding. That makes for a good story but not true.He wasn't off or in Gatlinburg for 6 months. You can build up to 240 hours of vacation time at the city of Cookeville before it starts rolling over to sick time.Maybe he used it.A lot of what was being done & said to him were death threats. To his wife & kid as well!Whether or not anyone agrees with what Eric Hall did, his wife & kid don't deserve that. You'd get away too if you cared anything about your family. And anybody who would phone death threats over a dog is a stupid backwards assed idiot anyway.

Eric Hall has been back on regular patrol for years now. And(oh my God!) answering a lot of those "high stress" calls you claim he's not.I think you just make this shit up as you go along.Just cause it makes for a good story you & Kristin can share.
As the matter of fact he still does work with the Family Protection Unit(domestic violence unit) too!Works 2nd shift 2p-10p.Com e on down, bring your dog!
And you know, the ironic thing is,they're talking about making him a k-9 officer! And a motorcycle cop!,with a little side car...

Now,I'm not upset about this,he was.But this is the very first point you've been right about in this whole discussion. He has lost all his cases. It was decided the city didn't do it intentionally so they weren't liable.I still think all 400 employees should've sued them but that's another topic.
