Just today I was talking to a friend of mine who works at City Hall. He said zoning had been approved for a Water Park on HWY 70/Spring Street. I don't know the exact location. He said it was going to be Swimming, Go Carts, & Mini Golf. He didn't specify concerning the water but it'd be nice if they had waterslides too.

I hope it does well. I just hope the new owners have the capital that will be necessary to carry it through this first winter. No one will be riding go-karts in the cold rain.

This is great news! I sure hope it's successful. With 11,000 college students in Cookeville I can't help but think that something like this will be popular.

I just wish Cookeville had a nice skate park.

There used to be go karts and I think batting cages on 12th street near the college... didn't last. We had mini golf on 70... didn't last.

Everyone thinks they can rely on the college kids... NO, not really. This isnt a college town. If it was, the majority of students wouldn't leave town every chance they got.

So a business can't depend on the college crowd... and honestly they can't depend too much on the locals either because they don't have the money, or they won't travel that far out of town to utilize the place.

I agree... but as the owner said in one article I read, the climate here is great from March to November/December. Whatever... I just don't see folks coming out too much passed fall. Especially being the holiday time of year. Makes no sense to me why they decided to open in fall.

It's a nice idea... Hope it works out and its a huge success!

The place on 12th street was fun-karts, and people started going because they didn't really have enough room for a good go-kart track and so people stopped going. The mini-golf place on 70 was a joke, so I wasn't suprised that it closed... the only place I remember having stuff that should have done ok was when Golden Mtn park had go-carts, bumer boas, etc... but it was too far out I guess. That's why I hope this new place is closer in town. The regular population, plus college students, plus the fact that Cookeville is a hub for people who don't want to drive to Nashville or Knoxvillle. The place should do fine, even if it is seasonal.

I really think this new fun park can be successful. The old miniature golf place where Cracker Barrel is now (Bermuda Triangle?) was nice but the owners let it go to crap. And I remember Fun Karts over by Tech. It was waaayyy too small. If the new fun park keeps up the maintenance and has a decent go kart track (bigger than a living room) I predict it'll do well. Cookeville and Tech are a lot bigger than when those other places were around, too.

This new park is located on E. 70 at the I40 ramp... too far out of town?? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on whether or not folks feel its worthwhile, I suppose (i.e., is the cost spent for admission worth the value of fun)

I am so excited that people are talking about Fast Lane Fun Park. After reading some of your comments, I feel like I need to clarify a few key points. First, a water park would be great, but it is not in the budget right now. I won't rule out ideas for the future, but not at this time. Second, the original plan for opening was July, not the fall. However, construction delays, weather and other unforeseeable obstacles have determined the new target opening date which is October 1, 2009. Climate is certainly in our favor, so remaining open until early December is a realistic goal (weather permitting). We will certainly be flexible with remaining open weekends until a deep freeze in in effect. Because we are building in stages, as we can afford, the bills will get paid during the winter months when we will be closed. In the Spring we will continue to add new attractions to make Fast Lane Fun Park exciting and affordable for our residents and passing visitors. If anyone has specific questions, I will try to answer each one personally at www.fastlanefunpark@yahoo.com. We also have a page on facebook/fastlanefunpark for the most up to date and accurate information as it becomes available. We are working with some wonderful people on the planning and execution of the park. Hopefully, we will fill a much needed void in our great community of Cookeville. Please keep sending suggestions to make us better!

but i cannot believe they hired that cheryl diccico or whatever her name is to be the manager! does anybody else know her? i will just say,,, be careful if you have a husband or boyfriend!
How DARE you! Who are you? It is very easy to SLANDER someone's reputation when you are too much of a COWARD to admit who you are. There isn't a more dedicated, competent, or trustworthy person that I know who could do the job better than Cheryl DiCicco. And by the way, my husband agrees with me (The owner of Fast Lane Fun Park).

I have an actual question:
Do you have any plans to get the state to pave a "cut through" in the median in front of the entrance to allow access from the south?

We are actually in the process of getting State approval on the turning lanes in both directions. The work will be done before we open. Thanks

I just found out about the park today... I immediately had to do a Google search to learn more. I am so glad I came across this page, linking me to your email and Facebook.(Personal comments should be kept off of here, what is wrong with people?) I added you on FaceBook and the pictures look so fun. I am so excited to see what it has to offer!

I am a current TTU student and I will definitely be spreading the word and dragging people in once I have visited. I've also lived here most my life and remember Fun Karts and that little MiniGolf on 70 - yes both were small and laughable. I have such great childhood memories of the Bermuda Triangle and Golden Mountain, it is sad they went downhill and were so far away. I will be so glad to have somewhere to relive those memories! Christine, many many thanks to you and your husband and everyone else who has been a part of this. Hope to be seeing you soon!
