So you have bedbugs
Our family brought them home from a one night stay in a hotel. We realized there was a problem immediately and began treatment within two weeks. We have been bedbug free for over four years.
Take a deep breath. This is going to be a long and emotional journey for you and your family.
Contrary to popular belief there isnít anything on the market that will kill all of your bedbugs. Current law doesnít permit for any chemical to be strong enough to kill these critters. That is why individuals with infestations keep getting re=infested, even after treatment and the fact that these little critters can hide in electrical sockets, radios, behind base boards etc., doesnít help your battle. I am going to recommend two products that can be ordered over the internet. Remember it is against the law to use these products at a stronger concentrate than what is recommended, the products will come later. There is a lot to be done before treatment.
First, remove ALL of your clothing, closets, drawers, every item. All clothing must be taken to a laundry mat, washed and thoroughly dried. This includes all bedding, including spreads and comforters. Have a safe place you can put your clean items in, do not bring back to infested home. Not until after treatment. And do not take items to safe home in the same vehicle you took them to the laundry mat in. Believe me if you have bedbugs in your house they are in your vehicles also. Pack a weeksí worth of clothing in a plastic bag to keep with you after you have thoroughly washed and dried the clothing.
Now, remove all small items, pictures, radios, flowers, all misc. Put these items in large plastic bags. Tie them up securely. You will need to rent a storage unit that has neither air conditioning nor heat. Forget you own any of these items for at least a year. This is a good time to throw away a lot of items you really do not need. It is amazing the items you can live without after you find bed bugs in your home.
All luggage needs to be removed. Throw it away if itís not a have to keep item. If you have to keep it, use a steamer on it and then tie up in large plastic bags and put in storage unit.(You probably brought the critters home with you in your luggage) Donít forget all shoes also (bed bugs like the netted material on some tennis shoes)
Do you have any of those hangers from the cleaners with the paper on them???THROW THEM ALL AWAY. Bed bugs love wood and paper.
Now, the rooms that have bed bugs, where you have actually seen them, remove the carpet. Yes pull it out and remove it through a window in that room. Do not haul through other areas of your home. You will just infest those areas. Use bleach and thoroughly spray behind base boards and entire flooring.(No one can stay in home while treatment is occurring)
All mattresses and box springs must be thoroughly vacuumed and treated. Here is your first product, order Boric Acid Roach Powder dust your mattresses and box springs be sure and get the edges of the mattress and box springs dusted. Bed bugs love to hide in the side seams. Completely cover the mattress and box springs with plastic, taping it securely using duct tape, the plastic will need to stay on your bed for at least one year so tape it up using strong and durable duct tape. You can also order plastic covers but these are expensive and believe me you have already spent a fortune. Now get out the vacuum. Vacuum every inch of your bed frame. Vacuum every inch of your home including baseboards. You will need to vacuum every day for one year and you MUST throw away the bag after each and every vacuum.
Take you automobiles to a car wash vacuum everything including all vents, and donít forget the trunk.
Now for treatment, it can be ordered off the internet. Order Demand CS.

. Everything has to be sprayed starting with the ceiling and working down to the floors. Behind everything, inside everything, drawers, walls, ceilings, floors, anything still hanging on the wall. Everything. Now spray your vehicles. LEAVE. You cannot stay in the home or use the vehicles you have treated. Leave all for a week, at least.
When you return everything will have a white dusty film on it. You must wash this off. Wear plastic gloves and breathing mask co-op sells the masks. This stuff will make your nerve endings go crazy, you will feel like you are being ate up by bugs so use precaution!!! What you can leave the dusty powder on that NO ONE will EVER come in contact with leave it. Be sure to thoroughly wash inside all drawers.
Bed bugs like to be located where you are. Typically they love bedrooms, family rooms and bath rooms. The kitchen doesnít seem to be a favorite place for them. So, donít treat the kitchen if you arenít infested there. The kitchen should just have the floors treated. You donít want this chemical in your utensils or dishes. Mop the floors thoroughly after returning home. You MUST vacuum every square inch of your home upon your return and you must do it every day and you must throw away the bag every day and remove it from your home. Like miles away.
Wow, I know this is a lot of work, money and time. It will seem like you are going to lose your mind. You have to be aggressive with these critters. I am not a professional, I am just a person who was able to use this method to get rid of bed bugs. I hope it helps others.
When traveling use the Universal Precaution methodÖconsider every plane, taxi and hotel infested with bed bugs. Upon your arrival home all clean clothing MUST be put through the drier on high heat for at least 30 minutes. All dirty clothing must be washed and dried. Vacuum the outside and the inside of all suitcases and any items you carried with you, purses etc. If you carried your luggage in the trunk of your car vacuum it thoroughly. Remember to discard the vacuum bag after each use. If anyone in your family uses any type of electronic device such as a breathing machine, vacuum it thoroughly, remove all parts and vacuum each piece. Bed bugs love electronics. Either vacuum your shoes or run through the drier for at least 30 minutes. It might take an hour to do this after your trip but if you can avoid the nightmare of a bedbug infestation it is definitely worth it!
The products mentioned above may be ordered from Pro Pest Products at www.doyourownpestcontrol.com . Treatment will require both the Boric acid roach powder and the Demand CS products. Good luck and God bless you.

It was an out of state hotel that you wouldn't know. The entire point of this message is to help people who are facing bedbug problems. If you don't have them yet odds are someone you know has and guess what they can bring them to your home just by visiting! This information can save you a lot of head and heartache.

The governemnt banned ddt. That was what was in pesticide that would kill the bedbugs. Since the ban there hasn't been anything come out on the market that is strong enough. Yes, this is a complicated ordeal to get rid of these critters. A whole lot of work, time, energy, money and a large part of your sanity goes into getting rid of these critters. No, I do not work for the company or the products. This is what worked for my family. I have spoken with several pest control companies in Cookeville and there is definitely a bedbug problem here. I am hoping to help other families with my information. I hope you never have to find out what the ordeal of dealing with bedbugs is really all about.

We hired a so called professional exterminator Jan. and paid over $ 1,000, it is now Oct. and we still have those bed bugs. The Company has offices all over the USA. I reported them to the BBB and Tn. Consumer Affairs, nothing done by either. They only used alcohol.....
I got infested at a yard sale and it wasn't from furniture... like mattresses. Bed bugs are a serious problem in Cookeville.
