<quoted text> Thanks couldn't remember, I will be watching the threads for more information. I wonder if Jack Lowery is doing this pro bono for Wendy? This lawyer must be doing this for the attention that the media will bring. Because she will not have a bucket to piss in..or a window to throw it out of, when the board and feds get through with her.
This should be a lesson to all of us to not let greed get the best of us...she was living the good life until she built living the dream and opened people's eyes that she living way above her means.

<quoted text>. You have put Wendy in the same category as Bernie Madoff several times. You think she needs to be thrown in the pokey too?
Precisely, she built up an empire founded on a scam, that they were actually using this federal grant money to help the elderly of the Upper Cumberland find affordable housing and receive needed services. She took and took and never got stopped till at some point she decided there was no need to be cautious about it, no need to worry about auditors, as she had them wrapped around her fingers, and no one on the Board attended the meetings except those few who were interested in playing the games and taking the trips and signing off on whatever they needed to sign off on. I cannot quite figure out how, with at least 15 housing units up and running and having been in place for a long time,(and none of them have mansions in front of them, incidentally) why as crafty a guy as Larry Webb allowed her to do the Living the Dream mansion. Someone should have seen it was going to be the straw that broke that very overloaded camel's back.

But by the way, no, Bernie Madoff didn't have to have a pro-bono attorney BEFORE he was prosecuted. Duh! Jack Lowery does what he does for the same reason Wendy did what she has done For the money. And she'll pay him plenty and hope like hell she doesnt get actual jail time out of this. I still say.....well,maybe it will, but it is not likely to happen. There's all sorts of diverted sentencing and fines and maneuvers and such, and then next thin you know, she's out and free of it all. I doubt if she'll get her job back, though!

I thank God everyday for people like them who care. Attacking peoples credibility and character will come back to bite you big time on the ASS. Sounds like you people need to find something to do. Maybe get a Job? Taxpayers are probably taking care of you. No need to respond I wont be reading nor responding to anymore of your trash. Wonder where she will go and where she will live aside from any jail time. I can't imagine her being able to stay in the area or even wanting to. Wonder why she doesn't live with her "husband" as I would assume she could go there. Even amid all this, I feel bad for anyone that goes down this path. I'm not defending anything, just that this is incredibly sad and how awful to not be able to show your face anywhere in the middle tn. news viewing area. This whole thing concerns me for her mental state even though she did it to herself.

In my opinion, She easily saw all of this coming and had plenty of options. But she chose to explain away her actions. Simply put her brain is not wired the way others are, and to make things more difficult her inner circle never held her accountable for her actions due to they themselves benefitting from the situation. Don't think for a minute that you should feel sorry for her. She brought this upon herself, and now she's got herself a terrific lawyer to get her out of all of her wrongdoing. She isn't suffering in the least, the only agony she MAY feel is that of being caught, and the hustle she is doing to get out of this one. The people you should feel sorry for are the poor that don't have their homes repaired because she wanted more for her and her family and friends. Or the poor that can't find decent employment, or the the poor that struggle between medication and food. That is where your sympathy should be. There are poor and needy people that don't even know what has been missing since it was stolen from them by greedy, selfish people like Wendy Askins and Larry Webb.

yes, I like Donald Trump too and whatnot, but criminal malfeasance is not the same thing as your reality show and they don't need lawyer's to "kick them off" or "keep them on." I don't doubt at all that Wendy and her cohorts stole several office-supplies such as staplers and what-not, but common-sense must enter the equation here sooner-or-later in regards to actually what was done or not done regarding her alleaged abuse of power in her appointed post, and this needs to be considered (especially since Kim Blaylocke is being put forward as the heir-apparent in the UCHRA post in the aftermath.) Does it hurt you, me, or anybody (especially those who may be living at the LTD facility right now, or anybody that might soon) to stop for a minute, and actualy evaluate the structure and expenditures of this establishment?
Abuse of power in the situation is crystal clear! She hired family for positions others may have been more qualified for. That sucks, and maybe a tough pill to swallow. But it happens. Whatever. My point is that money has been STOLEN! Not lost, STOLEN! We know who did it, we know where it went. I do not understand how you can STEAL money from your employer and still keep your job! Can anyone give an example of how this is NOT stealing!

This is misappropriation and mis use of federal funds. This is not stealing from your employer. She was the executive director of a her own two or three companies. The UCDD is not a federal city state or county entity. She was not an elected official. The people who work for these types of private agencies pretty much have a free hand with your tax dollars. They are these precious "private employers" who would love to have all your taxpayer dollars to administer for the federal government. They have about 500billion of our county's defense dollars. They would like to have all our prisons under their control ( think CCA) And when one of these private agencies really gets under scrutiny, people holler "Corrupt government employees!" And trash the government, and try to privatize it more. So it's a viscious cycle.

People who work for UCDD and UCHRA love to give the impression they are government workers, that they work work for you. BUt the only poverty and unemployment they are fighting against is their own (and of course, those poor needy elderly relatives of theirs!)

By the way, Yes, it is STEALING, but not from your employer. Sadly, now Wendy will take all this money she's paid herself and use it to try to stay out of jail. I hope we keep after her till it all comes out, but remember, this will take a long time. Our enthusiasm will fade. People will quit driving by the LTD mansion. Phil Williams will move on to other scandals. By maybe....midsummer, the auditors will have some findings. By next fall, perhaps charges will be lodged. People lose interest and commitment to follow through with these sorts of cases, and they are hushed and smoothed over.

If you check Phil Williams documents it shows that they applied for tax exempt status Aug 2011, and were recieved the O.K. from the IRS, to be listed as a tax exempt charity. Now using that 501 C3 for anything but the organization which it was intended for is against the law. Oh and I also came across this on the IRS website.

What are the rules for getting an award?
The law provides for two types of awards. If the taxes, penalties, interest and other amounts in dispute exceed $2 million, and a few other qualifications are met, the IRS will pay 15 percent to 30 percent of the amount collected. If the case deals with an individual, his or her annual gross income must be more than $200,000. If the whistleblower disagrees with the outcome of the claim, he or she can appeal to the Tax Court. These rules are found at Internal Revenue Code IRC Section 7623(b)- Whistleblower Rules.

The IRS also has an award program for other whistleblowers - generally those who do not meet the dollar thresholds of $2 million in dispute or cases involving individual taxpayers with gross income of less that $200,000. The awards through this program are less, with a maximum award of 15 percent up to $10 million. In addition, the awards are discretionary and the informant cannot dispute the outcome of the claim in Tax Court. The rules for these cases are found at Internal Revenue Code IRC Section 7623(a)- Informant Claims Program, and some of the rules are different from those that apply to cases involving more than $2 million.

Excuses me, but did anyone but me find the Herald Citizen article Sunday to be absolutely gag inducing? Ashley Pealer, another flamboyant blonde Wendy in training IS the Director of the UCDD in everything but name, and she's casually announcing to the world that we're not going to have the wonderful golf tournament this year in order to "help small businessess" but in the meantime, we've already dealt with the federal requests for information and the whole thing was just a misunderstanding and everything was done as it should, and in the meantime, we' ve figured out ways to cut expenses, saved, hey we SAVED $21,000 on just our cell phone services (which means they were spending how much before? HOlY COW!)

And they've been "assisting with flood relief" in the interim. Did they go out there in those Hummers, and were they being paid mileage, and what did they do with their regular duties? It does make you wonder.

The Upper Cumberland would like to see quiet acts of contrition out of this business, not this self justifying self promoting trash. This is not news, it should be in the advertising section!

Folks, read my tag, all this stuff about them being prosecuted and sent off to the pokey, it will not happen, it'll be business as usual within a few weeks.
