Any ALS nurse knows how to intubate. Whether or not their employer allows them to do so is a different story. Paramedics working at Vanderbilt as triage techs can't even start IVs, let alone intubate anybody. As a Paramedic, I have a limited list of medications that I can administer (about sixty if you include things like aspirin, benadryl, and oxygen) Nurses, depending on where they're at, can administer hundreds of different medications and many of those meds can be given without direct orders. Are nurses better? Not necessarily. But they're able to do a lot more and for good reason: their schooling is more thorough.
I only intubate when no one is looking.

That old saying about it making you go blind is NOT TRUE

Well, getting back to the OP's primary question: PCEMS is "eat-up" with the same drama you'd probably find anywhere else. Extra-marital affairs, people dealing with the exes (and often moving in and back out with them on a regular basis), divorces, cheating, alcohol issues, social drama, head-butting, and the common rescuer-ego that's been mentioned above. People carry unnecessary grudges against other co-workers for years and years over silly, child-like arguments or anything else. For many of the folks working there, the world ends at the Putnam county line, and this is all they've ever known, so they're real prone to developing a "more important than thou" attitude towards people, and egos are real big. I am a member of a local public service organization that works hand in hand with EMS on a variety of scenes, so I get to see into this stuff on a pretty regular basis. Many friends of mine also work for PCEMS. I'm not saying in any terms that all the folks there have these issues, but enough of them do that it is pretty obvious, and a majority of your small talk discussions sitting around the station will be about these very things. Can't speak for JCEMS. I'm sure they have the same issues we do here.

Absolutely 100% True, This place is the worse in the state. They all have the Better than you Attitude. PCEMS was a great service once upon a time but now, it is just full of young snot nose brats that have no idea what they are doing!!!

If you're interested in a rim job then ask Jim Knight. I know from first hand experience that he loves doing that. I also know first hand that he got caught by his wife cheating. One of his fbuddies called his wife and appologized to her. From what I have found out from his wife this woman that called her told her everything he was into including gay play.
