I have been searching the net and can't find any info about the murders of Charlie and Diane Parker. Were Bambi Bennett and Richard Gagnon ever convicted? I lost track of the story last winter and I am looking for any updates I can find?

This case is scheduled to begin next week. I guess they let Bambi go for lack of evidence or she turned states evidence. Personally I do not believe that Bambi had anything to do with it. The property was always hers; left by her father and she had deeded it to her mother because she did have a drug problem, but her mother always willing gave her parts of the property when she ask for it. There are numerous deeds in the courthouse house that reflect this.

I do not think that the boyfriend is the guilty party, but I do have my own thoughts on the situation. It will be interesting to see how it comes out.

Richard Gagnon was received 30 years for first degree burglary, and two life sentences for the murders. The jury based this on motive and witness testimonials claiming Richard "knew things only the killer would know" despite the defense's good explanation for this and how more than the killer would know. There's no forensic evidence linking Richard to the crime, other than the blood on the shoe, which was also reasonably explained by the defense. An innocent man was sent to jail yesterday.

What about the unexplained blood on the crime scene? The blood that isn't Richard's or either of Bambi's parents' blood. They couldn't even prove Richard pulled the trigger. In fact, they didn't even really prove he was there at all during the crime.

Can someone post info about the town these murders occurred in, such as population, size of police office, crime rate, frequency of murders, etc.? From what I hear of the trial on TV, there was NO way this guy was going to be found guilty.

You can look up Conway on Wikipedia. I grew up and went to college there, knew the Parkers, have met Bambi a time or two, and know Charlie Jr.
Conway is about 15 miles from the popular vacation town of Myrtle Beach, SC and has an ever-growing population. Currently it is around 15,000.

I watched this entire trial, and I m so shocked that as long as a prosecuter can find two people to get on the witness stand and bad mouth you, you CAN be convicted of a double murder???? I am sure that EVERYONE has at least two people that would do this. As far as the snitch goes, had I sat on that jury, everything he said would have went into one ear and out of the other. I would never put any weight on anything a "jailhouse snitch" had to say. I must say that when the verdict came back I was in complete disbelief that a man could be found guilty of murder with NO EVIDENCE. There is surely something wrong with the Justice System to allow this to happen.

richard convicted on 3/17/08 on 2 counts of murder and 1st degree burglary. 2 life terms and 30 yrs. w/o possible parole. Charges dropped on Bambi due to lack of DNA evidence.

Mystery bleeder accused of murders
Posted: 04:36 PM ET

NEW YORK–In Session viewers may remember Richard Gagnon, who was convicted last year and sentenced to two life terms for the murders of a South Carolina couple.

Gagnon testified that he did not shoot Charles and Diane Parker and that he didn’t know who did, contradicting a cellmate who claimed he confessed to the murders.

Gagnon was living with Bambi Bennett, Diane Parker’s daughter. Investigators believed that Gagnon killed his girlfriend’s mother and stepfather to clear the way for her to inherit their estate, worth $700,000. Gagnon’s defense was boosted by crime scene evidence. There was blood at the home, the killer’s blood — but it didn’t belong to Gagnon.

Prosecutors have since found the mystery bleeder. DNA from the Parker crime scene has been matched to Bruce Hill, who is currently in a Tennessee Correctional Center. Earlier this month, Hill was charged with two counts of murder and burglary in the Parker case. While investigators have not been able to establish the link between Hill and Gagnon, they do not believe it diminishes Gagnon’s involvement in the case.

“We suspect there’s a certain way they know each other,” said Lt. Jamie DeVari, commander of criminal investigations for the Horry County Police Dept. DeVari said it may take a more time to establish the connection, but remained confident in Gagnon’s guilt.“We believed all along there was more than one participant.”
