This selectman is correct to some extent. Most state's the judges hand out PFAs like their candy for children. There are instances where they may be warranted but for the most part the mere thought of domestic violence even if there is no overt threat is enough. It's just one more advantage among many that women have in divorce cases. Considering most women win monetary funds and other things in divorces you can bet no man had anything to do with today's current crop of horrorable divorce laws.

Men make the money usually, then divorce and leave the wife (often with the kids) in poverty.

Spousal abuse is still rampant in the USA, despite many advances. I mean, the USA is probably among the BETTER nations of the world in this respect... the women's movement here has actually made real strides...

Naturally in a divorce both sides will play dirty. But this fool shouldn't use that to downplay the importance of STOPPING spousal abuse in the USA!!!

Obviously the socialist program to support alleged domestic violence victims (both males and females) is feeling the pinch of the recession and far too many social programs society has grown accustomed to in the past 40 years! It’s high time to tighten belts and drop a lot of social programs until we have a sustained recovery. Sound financial decisions are never popular with the entitlement crowd. Hopefully, the charitable groups will pick up the slack! You can count on conservatives who will try to fill in the slack as Liberals have a demonstrated propensity to not be very generous when it comes to charitable donations. Very few Liberals contribute and those that do contribute very small percentages of their income even when very financially secure! It’s been polled and documented. Come on Libs, step up to the plate and put your money where your mouths are!

Yeah! Those women are in charge of everything! They make all the big money, have huge majorities in business, overrun the courts and the legislatures, they're bigger and stronger than men, they have such mean and explosive tempers, they own all the guns, they dominate all the rough sports, like baseball, football, hockey, and basketball, and the prisons are overwhelmingly full of violent women offenders, mostly drug dealers, and pimps who keep their men in line through intimidation and violence. Why you can barely walk down the street without being whistled at by all of those crude women construction workers. And look at how feminized the military has become; there's barely any room for a man in a combat brigade anymore. And then when they leave their men at home, barefoot and pregnant, and go out with the girls to blow off some steam after making nearly 50% more than men do for the same work, they have the nerve to claim domestic abuse. Yep, they've just got too much power. Poor men, I feel sorry for them. Women have nothing to fear.

Yes. I think that they are known as "innocent victims" in the police logs.

No rage here! Move along everyone, there's nothing to see. I can't imagine why anyone thinks that men could be abusive.

And really, if you know about other cultures, as I do, you realize that as bad as it can be in the USA, you ain't seen NOTHIN' yet!

The women's movement which has positively changed many nations, notably the developed ones, has yet to reach the entire world.

To take Mexico as an example, the machismo (a legacy of Spanish rule) is so thick, I have been told by Mexican men not to talk politics to women, because their brains can't handle it. I have heard equally ignorant things from gringos, but my point is that the USA actually should be commended for having made real progress in this area. I mean, we've had 3 women Secys of State... among other things, and nearly had a woman President.

...There also many cases of "mutual combatants"
My question is...Why do these women keep returning to the skumbag that beat on them?
Financial issues?
Housing issues?
Why do some turn around the next week, and drop the complaint, citing "we love each other, we can work on it"
I have more questions than answers....NOBODY should be beaten on, man OR woman.
