So come on all you baseball experts. Is it the coaches or the players that are to lame oops mean blame for the 1-9 record? From what I have seen the coaches look clueless and the players look lazy.

If you don't go to the games and you don't know any of the coaches names you shouldn't be posting on here. The team gets zero support and at least these kids aren't out getting drunk or high. You get your ass out there for 7 games in a row in 90 degree heat and see how lazy your fat ass looks. PS Mathis and Jock quit on this team 2 years ago someone hand to take over or there would be no team. Get your facts straight. Must be Mathis writing all this-the kids woudln't play for him. Winning or losing they all still show up. Why not cut these kids some slack. Find some scumbag kids to pick on.

So i can't ask who the coachs are because i havent made it to a game in a few years? If i did go to a game then i wouldn't be asking dumb @ss! And just so you know i'm not Mathis. I think he was a nice guy and all but the best coach i can remember was Micky.

i graduated a few years ago from adirondack and i have played baseball my whole life. ive played for jock, mathis, micky, (during modified baseball) and i have also played for all the coaches that are coaching love post right now. mathis knew his baseball, but he was not a good coach. he didnt care at all about the kids playing. the reason mathis had so many wins and championchips is because of all the talent on the team. the kids have always coached themselves when it came down to it with jock and mathis. there was not one person on those teams that respected or liked mathis and jock as coaches. mathis QUIT legion and he QUIT coaching school ball. he is the one that turned away from it because he didnt care. and yes i know he has a kid, but if thats the reason he lost interest then he shoulda walked away a long time ago. if it werent for the coaches now, these kids wouldnt be playing ball. and i can assure you that these coaches are a hell of alot better then mathis and jock. theres a reason why the kids all of a sudden wanna play ball now that they have new coaches. and for anyone thats wondering out there, over the past few years, there almost wasnt going to be a baseball team because none of the kids wanted to play for mathis. when your a teenager and practicing and playing games all week long in 90 plus degree heat it really isnt that easy to jump right on the field with loads of energy. especially when half of this legion team also plays basketball for adirondack in a summer league. i would love to see half you lazy dirt piles go from a 2 hour basketball practice right to a baseball game. everyone wants to talk like they know theyre shit but nobody would last a day doing what these kids do.

Alot of what Former ACS Athlete says is true.....If kids don't want to play for a coach they flat out won't. But, it also works the other way too. Coach Mathis did know baseball, but priorities do change. That happens to all of us. Before I had my 2 sons I played golf in a league and played every weekend, I also bowled 2-3 nights a week. I played in 2 softball leagues. Once my boys came along it stopped not because I wanted it to but because I had other priorities. He is also right in saying it's tough to play 2 sports at once, I do feel the ones that were doing this did give 100% all the time , because knowing these boys the way I do they wouldn't play if they didn't give 100%.The part that Mathis quite Legion baseball is true. he went to the Legion 2 days before the league meeting and said he wasn't doing it, because he couldn't get enough players. Which was a lie....How do I know he could get enough? Because my son was one of the boys that would play and the whole varsity team said they would play that yr.This is how the coaches now became the Legion Coaches, and he he right . Without these 3 coaches there would be NO. I repeat NO Legion baseball for the kids. You know it is sad to look thoughout the stands and see maybe 30 people at a Legion game and it's the same 30 all the time. How about instead of complaining come out and support the team? I'm sure the kids would love to play in fron of "A CROWD" instead of there own families all the time!!! The Legion season is over as of today. The boy's didnot have a good season but, THEY HAD A SEASON.Way to hang in there guys. Maybe next yr people will go and watch instead of stay home and write about you.

With the news of the Love Post's junior league team in this week's Boonville herald . What does this mean for the Babe Ruth program ? There used to always be 2 Babe Ruth teams, Rausher Bros. and Sunset and all interested boys were given spots on a team . Will the new team Co-exist with Babe Ruth ,will all interested boys be given a spot on the team and when will sign up be?

Winning record this year? 500.ball? School ball or Legion? But in Boonville there's always an excuse why all the other teams are better right?

Yep there's always a reason.... Then why didn't he get more older boys too? probably because so many kids have been discouraged and don't play that there weren't enough . Kids from Old Forge, West Leyden, Forestport , Port Leyden and all through the Area could have been recruited . He CHOSE his own team . He knew who the team would be playing against. The team is made up of small players, even small for 8th grade . Pitting them against seniors is just foolish .

the best teams that ever came out of ACS were in the 70's and 80's . Coach Desetto . There were good coaches at the little league and babe ruth levels. There were 2 or 3 babe ruth teams from Boonville one from west leyden and one from forestport . Many kids played ball and could without the worry of being cut, it was fun and got more kids interested . Now there is no babe ruth . If you want a good team at the varsity level you have to have a large number of kids at the lower levels developing. Now there are one or 2 teams after little league and they have a competitive tryout for spots on the team, this makes many kids not want to play anymore .Boonville should go back to when baseball was fun and more accessible.
