Although it is a little harsh, I agree with shanks. I graduated from SL in 1998 and moved away after graduating college. Seeing those that post here and live in Lewis County, it astounds me to see how incorrect grammar usage is.
I totally agree. I graduated in 1993, and went into the military to get out of Upstate NY. Don't get me wrong, I love to come home, but the winters are way to much for me now. After the military I moved to Alabama. I can only speak for 1993 and back, I think the education system was great. Try going down south where there is actual education problems. I did some research and South Lewis spends nearly $10k per student per year. Where my children go to school in AL spends a little over $2000 per student per year. I actually went to Lyons Falls school until 2nd grade when it closed and I went to Port Leyden. I say if you don't like it LEAVE. And without spell check I managed to spell and everything with my South Lewis education. WOW!!

Actually, you have spelling and grammar errors:
"to much" should be "too much"
"where there is...problems" should be "where there are...problems"
Also, the sentence that begins "Where my children go to school..." does not make any sense.
Sorry. I don't mean to be critical, just factual.

Apparently we could all use like some help with our grammer and spelling, ya know??? This is an age where noone and begin a sentence without the word "apparently", then they have to put the word"like" in the middle, then end it with "ya know". We are becoming a nation of ediots (intentional I know it's idiots). But my children go to SL. I think they do a great job. The teachers for the most part are young, caring, wonderful people. There have been more than a few that have gone above and beyond to help and encourage my kids. The guidance department is aggressive, and motivating. They make the kids understand that your education doesn't end at high school, but rather is just beginning. I watch the kids my kids hang out with and SL kids seem way ahead of the Lowville and Adirondack gangs. I moved to NY and lived in a different district for 2 years, but purposely bought a home in SL after a little research. No other district would do. My hats off to all the teachers at SL. For the most part it's an underpaying, thankless job. But these peolpe to it because they care! And thank God they do such a wonderful job.

I believe in and fight for our freedom of speach and expression but when our kids push the line on decency we as parents have to stop it at the home. I am a dad and i belive a pretty good one and deal with 2 daughters and 2 sons. I have no qualms about sending them back in the house to change when its unappropriate. If i can see their panties or bra then its an issue. They say they all go through their growing spirts but i have the ultimate say in what is worn and how much is shown according to age and place attending. I would rather be the "Ass" at the house then having my girls being put in a really uncomfortable position because they may dress a little to sexy and some boy who cant control his hormones try to put his moves on them. I try to control what i can on my side but i will control the other side if i have to or get my hands on them, gonna be a bad day for someone. Educate your kids on right or wrong and they will appreciate you as parents well after they leave the house. Isnt it great being a parent these days...LOL.
