In conjunction with upcoming July 4th holiday, the Connersville / Fayette County Fireworks Committee is seeking donations to help cover the cost of the annual fireworks display. Our goal is to raise $9,000 to provide the professional display in the great tradition of the American Legion. This year the fireworks will be provided by Sky Magic.Donations can be mailed to the Fayette County Foundation where an account has been established. Any amount that you are graciously willing to donate will be greatly appreciated. Please make checks payable to the “Fayette County Foundation” with “Fireworks Fund” in the memo. Checks may be mailed to Fayette County Foundation, P.O. Box 844, Connersville, IN 47331, or dropped off at the Foundation Office at 521 Central Avenue. Thank you.

Did you know that 16 or 17 people die every year of secondhand smoke from fireworks displays?

Not to mention the noise and light pollution. I am thinking they are a major cause of Global Warming, that and the exhaust from Airforce 1.

On the serious side. I find it a bit sad that our community has forsaken a good family night holiday display at the park, for a bunch of drunks falling around in their backyards spilling beer all over each other.

I'll probably squeeze out a few bucks for them and go up to the park this year. Jez for nostalgia sake. How 'bout it, people?

I don't know why anyone would have to go to the park for the 4th of July display because most of the hillbilly's around here buy their fireworks locally and start celebrating on Memorial Day and keep it going until Labor Day. I don't know why the Indiana law makers passed such a stupid law, that it is legal to set off mortar rounds until 11 o'clock at night any day of the year. So fireworks, be damned!! And if you think the 4th of July is a reason to celebrate anything and it is a celebration of independence, you better look in the dictonary for the meaning of the word independence and do we have this day, the reason to celebrate it?!? We are the most opressed, trodden down society since the Roman Empire and your president is like Nero, standing around playing his fiddle, while Rome burns. Well...I don't know if it's his fiddle or not, but he's playing with something!!!

i don't know why anyone would waste any money on Connersville's fireworks. Several surrounding towns firework displays are much better. I attended the fireworks at Bloomington Speedway last year and they were twice as good as Connersville's. So do us a favor and cancel them.

I would like some donations to cover the cost of my winter heat bill. I can do without fireworks but can't do without heat, sorry.

If you were @ Bloomington then how would you know how bad ours were?
I think ours are better then some & worse then others. I hear Carbon motors will be in town and we do NOT want them to think bad of our town. Do we?
Futhermore I hope to have them air on our TV3 live for our shut-ins, nursing homes & elderly fokes. If you want to give please do! If not please do not run it down until you stay in town & watch them. then if you still feel the same please call me & let me know. Thanks, Jack (fireworks chairperson)

I was born and raised in Cville and choose to stay here and raise my children. I have attended the 4th of July fireworks every year. This is one of my fondest memories as a child and I hope it will be for my kids (my oldest is now 16 and still looks forward to this every year). I think that it would be a shame to lose this tradition. If you don't like fireworks stay at home and don't contribute, but don't be negative and ruin it for everyone else.

I think they should do away with the fireworks display in the park. They could take the money that is wasted on that pitiful display and put it to good use, like helping all the unemployed people in your town. The surrounding cities have much better fireworks displays, and everyone goes to those anyway. Well, the white trash redneck losers stay in Connersville and go to the display in the park.

We in Connersville are very happy that you live in a different city. we know you live at Richmond State Hospital, right? Now we can just hope that a pervert like you will not be attending our fireworks. Remember you have group therapy for all your perversions on the day before. We may have to up your meds so you don't show up in Connerville. I hope that at some time in the future you either overcome your perverions or just drop off the face of the earth. If you do show up in Connersville then I hope they strap you to one of the fireworks and be done with you.

I agree on it being a tradition. If you are too good for Connersville, than what in the hell are you still doing here? I went to the fireworks my whole life and now I take my son. It's fun and it creates good memories.
