Can you remember when the mayor himself stated, "Connersville would be hard pressed to fill jobs due to the fact everybody is on drugs or don't want to work." ,remember that statement? He said it on more than one occasion. He tore down everything the economic development corporation has worked for for years.

He made that statement in retaliation for the remarks directed towards him on this forum. You are aware of this fact as well as myself and the rest of Connersville. Negative statements never bothered me when I knew they were a fabrication.

The negative comments on topics, for the most part are due to the economic down turn; your statement
doe's not effect me in the least bit due to the fact, it is a down right lie.

As for me working, I don't and have not for over two years. Why? Because I can afford to retire at 53 years old. I've done well in my life and my parents have also.

Cengra...quit giving Topix ANY credit for influencing Mayor's decisions or comments. He does not lower himself down to THAT level. He could care LESS what people say here. The drug thing was in response to SAPA telling him they spend 3 months training people and they QUIT right before the drug screen required to go full time. Other local employers gripe about this too.

Agreed. However, our economic development board is stagnated. Needs new blood and new ideas. The entire EDG group.....what is left of it, need to be terminated. New leadership is a must. A fresh start is the key. Carbon Motors is a moot point. Our Mayor may be a good person, but he knows absolutely nothing about growing a community.

I truly believe his negative comments about Connersville's work force were aired publicly to degrade our citizens. The intent to harm, malice per se, and or disrespect is evident.

How will House Bill 1483 (drug screening) affect employment?

If these people are working 90 days and quitting, what kind of numbers are you talking about that get trained every three months?

What are the true numbers of eligible, drug test passable employees within 20 miles of the Visteon building?

There is no drug test after 90 days. The drug tests are given after the person is selected as a potential candidate in the very beginning. After 90 days the employee is brought on without having to take another. So all of this talk about people quitting because of a drug test is incorrect. These people are showing up trying to get a job and then failing the drug test from the get go. I heard a few weeks back out of 11 people selected to go take the drug test and physical, only 1 person passed.

OK...I stand corrected SAPA worker. But...your comments illustrate the point better than I can. Only one out of 11 huh ? Sad indeed !

The answer is no. They never intended to manufacture anything. You can't give up on something you never planned on doing in the first place.

Also, why would anyone make the argument that companies are complaining about putting three months of training into an employee prior to administering a drug screening? If that really happens the company's human resources personnel should all be screened.

Cengra, sounds like you were able to retire at 53 because your parents did well. I'm sure they were ecstatic when you let them know you would start spending your inheritance early. Will there be any leftover so your parent's grandchildren can take an early retirement too? I hope so.

Yeah, the liability from a 90 day before testing would be incredible if that person caused an incident.

I stated we both done well, not just them. They asked me to retire early to assist them in regards to finances and other matters of concern. I haven't spent a dime of an inheritance yet; my parents are still alive.

Mayor Urban said for us not to talk bad of the mayor or city council as it would undermine the work they are trying to do and make the town look bad or some such BS . For Urban now to degrade the people of this town ? Heat the tar boys and ladies start plucking those chickens its time to tar and feather the PoS . We can use EDG leader Pete Bell railroad rail to run him out of town with .

Wake up America - The Carbon Motors deal didn't pass the smell test from day one. I give the City, County & State credit for trying to get things moving (1500 jobs possible?), however it looks to me like the Carbon owners didn't want to invest a dime of their own money (if they ever had any money) in the 1st place. When the Carbon Motors people were given everything but the kitchen sink to make things work out & they couldn't do it, that should have told us something. This may be a blessing in disguise. CM mgmt probably would have taken the place down the tubes & we would have been left holding the bag & the bills from the fallout.

Where is the money derived to pay the salaries and traveling expenses of the Carbon Motors board?

I heard via the grapevine, CMC has 180 million or so in private investor capital they are using to fund their efforts.
