They send home a list of stuff that each student must bring in. And it's not used for the student that brings it in! The teacher confiscates it and puts it in a pool for all the students to use. So, that means the kids who don't bring in anything get to use the stuff from the kids that do bring it in. These schools nickel and dime us enough already!! Why should I ,as a parent, have to provide for the students that ignore the list??? This year I will provide for MY CHILD and no one else! All parents sick of this practice should speak up and be heard!!

If you help you wont have to support my child...thanks! P.S. I already half of the things he needs just need to know the little things that you would not think a first grader would need!

Based on your idiotic question it seems that a good place to start for your kid would be a new parent or parents.

Most schools have a list of needed supplies available on registration day, Aug. 5 & 6. I don't know sure that Frazee does but you can ask.

I was not suggesting that I was going to be supporting your child. I was merely pointing out that the supplies they ask you to bring are outrageous. Two boxes of Kleenex?? I will send my child a backpack of the things he will need. I can't afford to supply every needy student in the classroom, as it seems they expect us to do. Year after year the list of needed supplies gets longer and longer! This year, it's going to stop. I am unemployed and do not have the money to do it this year!!!

thankyou to the people who tried to help and thanks to the one that did help...and as for yeah right i agree that it is stupid to have to support the whole class but when your child is in such a young grade it is better if we do help each student that way we dont have to worry about theft and then have to replace what we have worked hard for. Thanks again to everyones help!

To the one who didn't want to share her child's things.
Are you going to be there to give "your" child a tissue from his box only? Are you going to be there to put the right amount of glue on a project?
Are you going to be there to explain to your child why he can't have a red crayon to use because he lost his? Are you going to give your child his daily alotment of paper and only so much of his pencil to use per day?
Maybe your child should only receive the attention You give him.
Are YOU going to be there???

I am unemployed, therefore, I can't afford to be nickeled and dimed to death by these schools!!! Yes, I will probably be there, considering I don't have anything else to do but look for work! Do YOU have a job? Do YOU want to be expected to spend money YOU don't have??? There was a time when it was all fine and dandy, and I usually bought extra supplies to cover the needy students. But times have changed for me. Do YOU think I'm happy about my situation? No, I am not! I cry myself to sleep most nights worrying how we are going to survive without me not being able to find a job. So, now I have to stress out about one more thing to buy. Hopefully, YOU don't ever have to be in our situation!!

If there is problem with getting supplies for your child, then go to the school and talk to the principal. There are ways to remedy your situation. The Salvation Army does a wonderful job helping with supplies for children in need.

If you are unemployed your child will receive free breakfast/lunch and free textbook fees.
.
However, I do wonder if ...you smoke, have artifical nails, tatoos, bingo habit, live -in boyfriend, etc.

Nope, none of that...lol! I've never smoked, never had a manicure or pedicure and I am happily married. My husband works at a VERY low paying job. Being unemployed for so long has really brought me down. Thanks for the suggestions, though, I appreciate it.(No tats or bingo, either!)

Then Mrs. Yeah Right, I am sorry for the hard times you are going through. Many people are in your shoes and I fear many others will continue to follow. I can only hope that you don't loose sight of others who have even less than you.
Sounds like your child is one of the lucky ones.
Have a little pity on the ones who aren't quite so lucky.
