Saw the new trash toters in the newspaper. I don't have enough room to store one in my garage. It's going to have to stay outside next to the garage. Either its outside or my car is. That's not going to look good where folks have no garage, or Like me, have a one car garage and no extra room.

No, we don't need to buy them. The city is providing one per address. If you want a second one, you put down a deposit.

In all reality we do pay for these new trash cans. You don't think our city could afford to give us anything for free, do you? Watch your water bill closely. Over the last 6 months or so rates already went up a bit. And I don't mean just the trash pickup charge that was raised a while back. They're going to get their money, one way or another, rest assured.

They're heavy trash cans, that have to be taken back up to the house after trash is collected. My concern is for the elderly. I will take the can back up to the house for my parents and my neighbors, but what about the folks that don't have someone nearby ??

Omg folks. They have wheels on them for crying out loud and can't be any harder to push or pull than to carry out trash bags to the curb like they do now.

You don't take trash bags back up to the house. Your comment shows you are apparently able bodied, Lincoln. Trust me, there are a lot of people for whom this will be difficult.

I know a lot of people who don't have enough trash to even half way fill up these new trash totes. They're huge, ugly, and will be a hindrance for my father to try and roll it around in the snow and ice this winter. Speaking with three generations of residents- none of them want these.(of course I'll help my father. But what about the many people with no one to help?)

But yes, it's about saving money. So yes, we are paying for these new cans. One way or another. Already added into a bill (likely water). So yes, people will lose their jobs, if this new plan works out.

I personally think this new truck will not work out in a large part of the city. We'll just wait and see what happens. Likely another failure on behalf of the city.

Let me get this stright. Your main beef is that the old and frail don't bring trash bags back up to the house.

Question: What about the several trips that these old and frail people make to and from their house to the curb and back?

Even carrying the bags out to the curb these old and frail need to somehow get back to the house after the last bag is dropped off. Only now they do so with a wheeled container with them.

Question: What is your definition of A LOT?

With the new wheeled containers, they make one trip to the curb and one trip back.

How many days will it be until we see a report in the newspaper of a dispute, battery and/or vehicle vandalism because someone parked in front of a trash tote. Place your bet.

It is a passed ordinance to be followed obediently by the legal residents of this city. I will diligently conform to the new totes and will abide by the regulations as put forth by the leaders of Connersville. If for some reason I cannot fulfill my obligation to this ordinance, I will be personally responsible to adhere to it by another means. I fully respect this administration for attempting to provide improved trash collection and their efforts to preserve jobs.

Why does it matter what the trash totes look like? You put your trash in it for crying out loud?

Are you serious? how about our "leaders of Connersville" use the money being spent on damn trash cans towards an actual cause. New trees and an expensive looking sidewalk near the courthouse...WHY??? People come on!!!! No wonder our town is spiraling downward. Supplies for schools, naah, food for Community Sharing thats probably going to close down because not enough donations, naah, food/clothing/toilitries for the less fortunate, naah, real doctors in our hospitial, deffinitely naaah...lets spend it on trash cans that people ALREADY HAVE. Lets spend it on trees and new sidewalks that were NOT NEEDED. Can we get some people that are not brain dead as "leaders of Connersville"?? Only place they are leading us is 6 feet under. Is it because we have a grave digger as a mayor!!!

Lets boycott trash pickup until the city has addressed ALL our concerns.

We don't need no stinkin' trash pickup.
