"On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, just minutes before learning of the terrorist attacks on America, Democratic strategist James Carville was hoping for President Bush to fail, telling a group of Washington reporters: "I certainly hope he doesn't succeed."

Carville was joined by Democratic pollster Stanley Greenberg, who seemed encouraged by a survey he had just completed that revealed public misgivings about the newly minted president.

"We rush into these focus groups with these doubts that people have about him, and I'm wanting them to turn against him," Greenberg admitted."

But being ever-so-dutiful...

"Minutes later, as news of the terrorist attacks reached the hotel conference room where the Democrats were having breakfast with the reporters, Carville announced: "Disregard everything we just said! This changes everything!"

The press followed Carville's orders, never reporting his or Greenberg's desire for Bush to fail. The omission was understandable at first, as reporters were consumed with chronicling the new war on terror. But months and even years later, the mainstream media chose to never resurrect those controversial sentiments, voiced by the Democratic Party's top strategists, that Bush should fail."

"That omission stands in stark contrast to the feeding frenzy that ensued when radio host Rush Limbaugh recently said he wanted President Obama to fail. The press devoted wall-to-wall coverage to the remark, suggesting that Limbaugh and, by extension, conservative Republicans, were unpatriotic."

Even Newt said Rush was wrong. At least Carvill withdrew his statement, if the quote, which was may have been taken out of context, was true. Rabid right *Fix* News has been proven wrong on numerous occasions.

What's wrong with what Fox News just reported? Did you READ the article I attached?

I'm going to type slow so you can keep up... Rush wants Obama to fail BECAUSE HE DOESN'T WANT HIS POLICIES TO SUCCEED. A success for Obama is bad for this country. Obama can have the best darned socialist country to ever be on the planet, but that doesn't make it good, does it?

How completely narrow minded are you that you will completely discount every single thing that is reported by a news agency! Have you been brain washed? You must look away when you see the Fox logo?

here is the difference. carville upon learning of the terrorist attack, understood the severity or the problems we faced as a country and understood the need to put diffferences aside and unite behind the president.
today facing an entirely different type of economic problems with dire consequences a possibility, some republicans dont feel moved in the same way. they choose to argue and belittle.

So you disagree with Newt.

Perhaps you should look up the definition of Socialism.

I occasionally watch Fox.

Perhaps YOU have been brainwashed.

No successful country exists that is governed the way the right wants to run ours.

Because a "SUCCESS" to Obama is a disaster for the country. Why can't you understand what Rush said? WHY? If Obama gets his way, I feel it will be dire for this country.

Give me a good example of a country run the way Obama wants our country? France? Venezuela?

I don't know what Newt said. I know what Rush said and I know what he meant and I feel the same way. I love this country and it makes me sad to think about my ancestors who were in the military (in wars) to keep this country safe and protect our way of life and now we have some socially radical lightweight as POTUS who's going to unravel all of it. I sometimes think I'm glad they aren't here to see it.

Well in that case everything should have went south a long time ago. They ALL are only interested in their special interests, not working for the people. The Dems are just as bad, wait till we all get the bill. It will be interesting to see how you think then.

Carville is a real idiot! The only reason he didn't want it in print was to protect his own a--. If the other party would have made a statement like that, it would have spread like wild fire! Isn't it amazing how the Dems always get a pass.

Yeah, it got really rabid beginning in 2000 when Bush beat Gore. I don't know where it will end.

But the DIFFERENCE is if Obama's policies are put into place, this country fails. That means being opposed to them is what's needed to get through this period.

If everyone fell in line behind Obama and does whatever he says, we fail that much quicker.

You LOST. Finally. By a huge margin. Quit whining. Get over it.
The majority of the country is happy that the idiot republicans that put us in the crapper are GONE. Our President is FINALLY talking about getting us, not his millionaire oil and banking friends, some help. Funny, seems his millionaire friends weren't interested in "trickling down" any of their money to help us. Rich people like to keep their money. Give him a chance, be positive...go spend some money.

I looked up what Newt said on all sources, The Huffington Post. What he said was if Rush wanted the president to fail, that was irrational. Newt went on to say that he, himself, wants some of Obama's policies stopped. Again, Sea Glass, the democrats, known for fair and balanced news such as Dan Rather and CBS, have quoted it wrong.

Keep in mind, Sea Glass, you have to understand the democrat way of thinking. Only they can criticize, only they have the right to call an Ivy League educated president stupid and then hail their candidate from Harvard brilliant, only they can mispronounce words due to tiredness, only they can give the head of a foreign country a gift with the word misspelled and it was a 'oopsie' moment, only they. Republicans do not have these rights.

We won't have anything to spend after your great President gets finished! BTW, you sound like another entitlement candidate. Why don't you pay your own way instead of expecting everyone else to do it for you?
