It's time to do something that makes sense and protects 2nd amnd rights and that is to pass a law that guns must be locked up. Most of these events are commited by persons with stolen or borrowed weapons.

You can take away guns, knifes, or weapons period. But that is not going to stop the evil from happening. If someone is mentally ill enough they will find some other way. Just my opinion but when corpral punishment and prayer was taken out of the schools it sure went downhill. Just think you can have a bible in prision but not school. Does that make any since???

Major General George B. McClellan Custer speaking here. I wish I had taken the Gatling Gun with us. We could have mowed those Indians down. When you want to kill lots of people you take the rifles with those large assault gun magazines. If you want to stop an intruder saw off your shot gun.

You people are so scared they're going to take you guns! Come on, It's gun control, we DO NOT need guns like that man used, like machine guns, I mean what for??? I know we all want to have guns for protection, but come on! Things were not this bad yrs ago! It's mostly the drugs, thats what we need to get ahold of! Besides back ground cks didn't help in this case, he took it from his mother. The same thing is going to happen, they steel them! But we don't need guns, other that hunting guns or maybe a hand gun, I mean really! I thik thats going to be the issue, is what type of guns were going to be able to have! I'm ok with that. I agree it's not the guns it the people, LETS START there! We need to address that problem!!! And it's not just hard drugs either, also scripts drugs too . It's really sad, bet there's someone in every family in this town thats has been hit by some drugs, lets get started, get these people some help! You think t it's your right, but he had no right killing those babies! I know he used the hand guns, just maybe he wouldn't have took that many, that quick! God bless them all and their families and all the people that had to go in the school and see this, they will never forget this!

The assault type weapons do need to be outlawed there is no reason for a person to be carrying one of these types of guns they are used to kill people period you can't hunt with them. If you are a certified collector then sure I'm all for collectors to have them maybe make the ammo so expensive that the average person can't buy it. I dunno I'm beside myself right now. Mental health issues need addressed and not shoved under a rug. So many things need looked at and changed.

You are correct we cant stop it but without rapid fire guns it would be slowed to a trickle.

I am so reminded that guns kill more family members than intruders. This is why I have so much disdain for NRA's position on gun control issues. I suspect most NRA officials and members are nothing more than political operatives for the Republican party. What a bunch of used fools.

One must properly define the type of weapon. Everyone is calling them "assault weapons". An assault weapon can only be obtained by the military and law enforcement. The so called "assault weapon" your neighbor owns is nothing more than a semi-automatic sporting rifle and yes they are used for hunting. California outlawed high capacity magazines and has seen no discernable decrease in gang or criminal violence, same is true when their was a federal ban on high-cap magazines. That is why the federal ban was lifted. The rifle, pistol, knife, rock, or screw driver used by an attacker is merely a tool. By itself harmless, in the wrong hands deadly, in the right a valuable tool used for good things. You dont punish the wrench when your mechanic doesnt fix the right part, you dont arrest the beer bottle when someone drives drunk. The gun was used by the person responsible, not the other way around. And i dont beleive a goverment who supplied ACTUAL "Assault Weapons" to drug traffickers should be telling anyone that a law abiding and nonviolent american citizen should not be allowed to buy a sporting rifle or self defense weapon under the second amendment. Criminals dont buy guns at walmart or wulfs gun shop. They get theirs off the street or in recent years from the us goverment's ATF agency. You can outlaw anything and criminals will still get them, only law abiding citizens are punished. Afterall we still have meth despite sudafed being restricted, still got drugs despite 20+ years of waging a "drug war".

When living in Mass.before I could get a carry permit I had to go thru classes to learn how to handle them..Here I walked in filled out an app paid my money and waited for it to come in.It is not the guns that kill it is the people and no matter what kind of gun control there is the ones that do the killings will still get them and I am not firm believer in all the rules but all I will say is they will only get my guns by force I will not give them up to anyone for any reason.Like I aid no matter what they will get them. Now give a moment of silent prayer for the ones lost..

Back when the 2nd amendment was structured and written into in the Bill of Rights only single shot powder guns were available. They need to completely re-write that amendment taking into consideration modern day weapons. Politicizing this issue is appropriate for it must rest with the elected officials to solve the problem.

Before you receive a license to drive, several instructional courses must be passed. You are driving a one ton+ vehicle down the road and the need to create better drivers is important.

This bull $hit about the need to protect yourself with a gun that uses 30+ round clips is stupid. The NRA years ago and still recommends the use of a gun that uses shot gun type shells for home protection. If you posses an assault type weapon you need to lock it up to prevent anyone else using it to create havoc as took place in Newtown.

They need a law that bans the 47 % that dont work or pay taxes, from voting then obama would not have got relected,
Here it is, folks, and it is bad news. The framework for legislation is always laid, and the Democrats have the votes to pass anything they want to impose upon us. They really do not believe you need anything more than a brick to defend your home and family. Look at the list and see how many you own. Remember, it is registration, then confiscation. It has happened in the UK, in Australia, in Europe, in China, and what they have found is that for some reason the criminals do not turn in their weapons, but will know that you did.
Remember, the first step in establishing a dictatorship is to disarm the citizens.Gun-ban list proposed. Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady's plan to introduce shortly. I have an outline of the Brady's current plans and targets of opportunity. It's horrific. They're going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They've made little mention of criminals. Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states' rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment. The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse):

(iv) a shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
Frames or receivers for the above are included, along with conversion kits.
Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any "semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General."
Note that Obama's pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, "there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event." In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.
The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn't have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose -- is that devious or what? And of course, "sporting purpose" is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.
