As for the money that comes from the townships it don't even cover the cost of ins for the trucks. As for the home owners ins. the fire department is lucky to get a portion of the bill that is turned in. If the bill was 2,000 the department would be lucky to get 2 or 3 hundred dollars and the left is up to the homeowner. Do you think the department would go after the family that just lost everything for the remaining bill? Why would they, they would be hated. All i'm saying is when people pay there dues it helps the department in so many ways.
I'm sure we all appreciate the efforts of the volunteers. Just don't think you are operating without the help of tax money because those huge grants come from the taxpayers pockets.

Listen you F-wad. I belong to The Fire Coalition and Numbers U.S.A., Minute men and lived on the border of Mexico and the U.S. for many years. I know what happens there. I write the Senators, Congressman and White House about NOT allowing amnesty. I am not a Liberal and never will be. If anyone is against illegals coming to this country it is me. I am against illegal aliens but I am not inhumane. You on the other hand are a P.O.S. yourself. I was in law enforcement at the time and had to do the duty but my personal feelings is the guy shouldn't have been in our country to start with but I wasn't going to let this person die.
I wonder what you would do if you saw a person dying in the desert. Would you just leave them? If you are conservative like you act on here I bet you wouldn't leave them. By the way what does conservative or liberal have to do with helping a dying person anyway?????? I did the right thing not the politically correct thing.
Listen F-face the hospitals in Arizona are full of illegals and the state always pays. In fact they get waited on before I would get waited on. If you want to Gripe at someone gripe at the state and county officials in each state and the cities the are sanctuary cities all over this country.
Now YOU MAKE ME SICK for having an attitude of leaving a dying person on the ground. No conscience I would say.
I think you are just a sh-t starter anyway.
BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!!!! Listen you OBAMANIAC, I am a firefighter and was in law enforcement, and just because you lived in AZ. doesn't mean you know dick. The 12 million illegals in this country are exploiting it to it's breaking point, and you are an enabler of this behavior. Police officers and Firefighters alike risk their lives everyday trying to "help" these DIRTY NO GOOD ILLEGALS, and we do it for the love of the job, but the country's frustration level is growing minute by minute and day by day, how many times do I have to scream across my city to pick up the same ILLEGAL, UNEMPLOYED, DRUNK on "the verge of death", rush him to the hospital, place him in front of 10-20 LEAGAL AMERICANS that are waiting in the ER, so he can get a 2 day vacation, 6 hot meals, a shower and all the free sh@t he can take out with him? Dead in the desert doesn't sound so bad to me. 1 down 11 million 999 thousand to go.

Hey dumbass clean up on aisle 12, some CHS student just crapped on the floor. Grab your mop and bucket and get to it. BTW don't worry about coming to work on Monday we just hired an illegal Gutemalan who doesn't want 20.00/hr. to clean up crap. Maybe you can get your shine box out of the closet and make a little money in the parking lot shining my dress shoes...... BIATCH

BLAH BLAH BLAH to you too. You listen you prick. I don't like Obama and never did . Stop trying to say I do. Being a firefighter what does that make you an expert? Don't think so.
Don't take it out on me I am against illegals too. Write letters, faxes, phone calls to the sanctuary cities and from local to federal government. Don't take it out on me I can't change it by myself.
You are a sh-t starter.

The only time I listen to a radio is when Iím on the road. During a normal workday Iím in and out of the truck so often that the radio becomes a distraction. Because of this I seldom have it on during working hours. As luck would have it though, I DID have it on for a short period (about five minutes) when Glen Beck started talking about this subject.
My first thought was that he was going to condemn the fire department for their actions. When he instead defended them, I felt better.
There are a number of reasons the society most of us boomers grew up in is going to hell. One of the main ones, in my opinion anyway, is the ďItís always someone elseís faultĒ syndrome.
In this case, it was the responsibility of the homeowner to pay an annual fee if he wanted fire protection. He had paid it the past but had forgotten to this year. As a result, when he/they needed fire protection, it was not available. Sometimes life sucks folks. Try getting your insurance company to pay you for losses if you donít pay THEM.(For that matter, try getting them to cover losses if you DO pay them - but thatís another subject.) We could all save a lot of money if we could defer buying insurance until after the fact.
I agree that what happened in this case seems harsh. But, emotions aside, if the fire department had responded the way the majority thinks they should have, where would the incentive be for ANYBODY to pay the fee up front. As it is, Iíll bet this incident results in a notable increase in subscriptions for fire protection next year. The slackers now know the consequences.
Iím a little disappointed in Indy and Squirrel on this one. Guess I donít know you as well as I thought I did. For a more personal view on this subject, as well as a refreshing change in attitude toward personal responsibility, check out:

Well Randy, I simply believe that sometimes there are greater moral obligations to our neighbors that no amount of money should supersede. If getting people to pay for this service is a big problem, then why not penalize them monetarily rather than watching their world go up in flames.
I'm sure there has got to be a better way.
If someone with no insurance is struck by a car, should the ambulance refuse to transport them to a hospital. No. And there are laws against such a thing anyway.
I also have a sneaky suspicion that there's more to this story than meets the eye. SOMEBODY involved in this thing had an axe to grind with this home owner. Just my suspicion.

It happened in Tennessee or Kentucky, not around here, but it made the national news.

Regardless of whether they got there and watched it burn, I'm sure they didn't get there in time to put it out anyways. So what makes the difference. They got the same result. Just take the insurance money and rebuild. They wouldn't have saved anything anyways. It happens everyday.
