stop giving fat kids candy and fast food. I will refuse to give out candy to a fat kid on halloween. get their ass's on diets and take away video games. you are forcing us to step up and tell your children they need to get healthy. thats your job to take care of ur child

I agree fat kids come from fat parents. Hate to be judgemental, but most people on food stamps are fat because fatty foods are cheaper. Our government needs to restrict what we are willing to pay for with our tax dollars. People on food stamps should only be aloud to buy healthy foods (ie: protein, chicken, fruits, veg, cheese, milk).
Don't get me wrong if one chooses to eat fatty foods that is their choices, but as a taxpayer I don't want to buy it for them, I only want them to eat healthy foods with my tax dollars. Remember most obese people that are on food stamps are also on medicaid so the obese also end up with health issues that we get to pay for too!
It's the governments job to change this cycle and change what we tax payers have to pay for to let them survive.
We should help out the obese and stop paying for fatty foods!!!!!!

Sadly, childhood obesity is running rampant. Twenty percent of kids between ages 5 and 17 are considered morbidly obese. Increasd incident of childhood diabetes, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, and the list goes on and on. The fast food industry is killing our children. But, in a downturned economy, it is cheaper for a family to feast on fast rather than to use a healthy alternative.

Have any of you stopped and thought about the children that have restricted activity due to health problems? My son is an overweight child who loves to ride his bike when his health allows it. My son loves to be outdoors however if it is below 40 degrees or above the 70’s he is unable to breathe properly and requires additional medications that cause weight gain. It is so easy for people to assume they know the reasons that a child may be overweight or underweight. It is unfortunate that people presume that everyone is the same and of course it must be poor judgment on the parent’s part. If you are truly concerned citizens volunteer your time or help create solutions for this scenario instead of damaging a child emotionally by being crude and disrespectful. Educate yourself on ways to encourage a child to make better choices. I am sure that some uneducated person will feel compelled to write an ignorant comment however do not ever be to confident that a disease will not someday afflict upon someone you love. Children are innocent and need to be nurtured and educated about proper nutrition.

Because you work and pay taxes DOES NOT in any way shape of form give you ANY RIGHT to tell another how to live or what to purchase on whatever means they purchase it on. When will you f*kin people get the message YOU DONT OWN OR RULE ANYONE!! once that dime is withheld from your paycheck, it is gone no longer yours to determine where and what it is used for.

I agree but I think this whole topic has gone way out of line. What it comes down to is that parents are not making their kids exercise. Most kids do not eat breakfast at home in mornings rather at school during the week. So basically majority of children eat one meal at home if they are able to do so during the school week. Its about carbs and how much is taken in and what's burnt off. Most kids do not excercise.the obesity rate has went up drastically in past 10 years but people have been getting assistance a lot longer than that. So what needs to happen is to cut back on the carbs and fat and make those kids get up and do something.

We have become human hamsters. We have become a society of convenience in pretty much every venue of our lives....faster...easier...lea st effort. We are a product of this theology, now it's time to reap the harvest..rampant health issues: obesity, Type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, back problems, congestive heart failure, COPD...seriously folks it's past the time to fess up..it is NOT just an issue with the children...most of us have become addicted to the .99 cent heart attack in a sack. I guess because we think we are too busy to make the time to eat right as families and exercise as families and we have traded the family dinner table, board games and outings for the drive-thru, movies and video games...these are the consequences...sad but true:(

it gives me every right to rule you...you suck and don't pay for the food so that's when you lose control and have no say so.....one day all this welfare will be gone and hopefully so will all the welfare trash!!! The average welfare trash makes about 65,000 a year between HUD, Food Stamps, SSI and Medicaid!!!1 COMPLETE BULLSHIT....I SAY LET THEM STARVE, LIVE ON THE STREETS AND NOT GET MEDICAL ATTENTION. MORAL OF THE STORY GET A F*(&ING JOB!!!!!!

Very true. Another observation is that fast and convenience foods aren't just fattier or cheaper - they are buying them as they are EASIER. Mama June doesn't have to stand at the stove and prepare a nice meal. She just pop a frozen pizza or hot pocket in the microwave.

The kids are identical to their parents and grandparents - coke (no milk), no exercise, they can't swim, ride a bike - they sit and watch TV or play video games. Watch them in a parking lot circling around for the closest spot so they don't have to walk an extra 8 ft. Notice what they do with the carts when they're finished. Just leave them in the middle of the lot as it would require walking to take them to the cart corral. The kids are so fat they can barely breathe. It is disgusting to see 2nd and 3rd grade girls with muffin tops hanging over their pants.

So they can eat fatty and sugary foods just not carbs? There are good carbs. You are a tard. Its called eating whole grains, not overprocessed white bread. This isnt the 90's..the Atkins train left the station years ago. Get some edumuhcacions ahahahhaha

It seems obesity is the last "acceptable" target for American bigotry. People who are overweight are even assumed to be morally bad, lazy, unemployed, inactive, etc. So we make them buy two plane tickets, glare at them in the grocery store, talk about them as if they didn't deserve to share the earth with Size 0s.

Does it make us somehow superior? Or do people believe it's contagious? It doesn't, and it isn't.

(And no, I'm not.)
