It said he was hit by a car while running across the street to get in the bus. It does not mention him being hit by the bus.

also if you read the article the bus driver says he had not put out his stop sign yet when this happened. Parents need to make sure that they tell their children to wait till the bus is stopped and the stop sign is out and the lights are on before the start to cross the road. It is sad and I pray for the child and this family but the information that has been released points (if you choose to read before you judge) this just being a horrible accident.

The girl that hit him is very young and it was an accident. This young lady will live with this the rest of her life. She does not need people that dont have their facts straight saying things like this. There are alot of people greiving over this. If you cant give kind thoughts and prayers to all involved, then please give nothing at all. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.young lady, bus driver, and classmates.

thoughts and prayers to the family. so sad to hear things like this. it may have been an accident but there are so many careless drivers out there, with it turning spring many children will be out not only for school but just playing. caution needs to be takin when in areas with many children like the park. and school zones...

It may have been an accident but it was a careless accident and now an 8 year old boys life has been cut short. Is it really worth being in such a big hurry to blow by a stopping/stopped bus? When u are stopping a bus the light start flashing way before the stop sign comes out. That is you guys saying she was coming from the other way? I heard she was behind the bus and swerved around it which is a really really careless act. Now I don't believe this woman needs to be ridiculed people make mistakes I think people just need to pay attention being late or driving stupid is no excuse for someone to be killed that's a lot to have on ur plate and she has a long road ahead of her my thoughts go out to her but most of all my thoughts go out to the little girl who watched this happen to her brother I can't imagine being so young and watching such a horrific thing happen..its a bad situation all the way around.

Exactly. She was 'plugging in her cell phone' and NOT paying attention. Selfish and clueless. Some of these morons on the road act as if only THEY are on the road. Now a dear child is gone and an entire family and community suffers and mourns the loss. One dumb, selfish act is all it takes.

In reply to you saying she doesn't 'need to be ridiculed.' Whatever. It was HER fault and that is the truth, not ridicule. I deal with clueless and selfish drivers on the road all the time. A cell phone, texting, lighting a cig, putting on make up while driving, failing to signal, yield, make complete stops or anything else is NOT worth a life!

What if this was your child, spouse or loved one? Bottom line is people need to pay attention and stop with the 'all about me attitude.'

Oh, may all you unreasonable people never have a child run in front of your car while you are driving. It is a horrifying experience.

This young lady involved was traveling the opposite direction.(for the poster incorrectly stating "they heard" the lady passed the bus). Read the article at the top.

There have been a number of children struck and some died, here in Connersville, due to their running into the road without looking. The ultimate responsibility lies with the parents in teaching their children to stop and look both ways before crossing the street- let alone a highway.

I agree that drivers need to be paying attention, close attention. Maybe the law needs changed or clarified to include all drivers must come to a stop when they see a school bus with the yellow caution lights on. I still have no idea if this accident could have been prevented. I was not there.

I do encourage you to think about how easily something like this could happen to you. And how devastated you would be. I'm so very sorry for this child's family. May God help their sorrow be eased.

Oh My! Would one be so cavalier in their thoughts had this been their child that was killed? The driver, though young, IS asolutely responsible. The light were flashing. Lots of questions here...Was she paying attention, talkng on her phone, or TEXTING? Did she knowlingly attempt to pass by the bus before the arm was actually activated? Agreed,it is important for parents to educate their children regarding the rules about looking both ways. Perhaps the parents of the young female driver should be held responsible for not teaching her how to obey the COMMON SENSE rules of the road. The lights were flashing and the bus was stopped or nearly stopped. In my opinion this incident could have been avoided had the young female driver been PAYING ATTENTION. The law is perfectly clear. Drivers are held responsible for keeping their vehicles under control at all times. Evidently, she was distracted for but a second, but....a one second distraction can be a fatal error.
My sympathies and prayers are with both families. May God watch over both families and attend to thier needs at this fragile time.

I can see by the "judge it" marks that the readers here believe that this horrible accident could never happen to you. Oh, how foolish you are. If something like this ever happens, I hope that others will show you MERCY. For you certainly are showing no mercy now.

I see that you didn't read the article with comprehension. I also know that the ultimate responsibility was upon the parents to supervise their child getting across a highway.

As I previously stated, maybe the laws need addressed and changed to come to a complete stop when you see school bus flashing lights.

Would you be so cavalier if you were the driver?? Oh that's right, you all never make any driving errors. Perfection found on Topix.

this was an accident dumbass... unfortunately they do happen.. some accidents are not so bad, while others are pretty tragic as this was. i am sure the young girl is feeling guilty and suffering tremendously.. just takes a split second for these things to happen... i feel for everybody involved. maybe the parents even feel guilty??? i am overprotective, if my child had to cross a highway to board the bus, i would be walking them across it. so you can pretty much throw the blame everywhere.

Einstein! You an attorney? Accidents such as this one carry fault, like it or not! You can bet this will be resolved in court.

My Goodness, most of you posters are ridiculous and unreasonable. Go ahead and feel "holier than thou" and continue to pretend that you all are perfect drivers, never violated a traffic law, never been distracted, and we know YOU ALL would have stopped your car THE SECOND you noticed the school bus. Yeah, RIGHT!! It's likely (statistically) that at least one of you holier than thou people has driven drunk. You bunch of hypocrits.
