I, for one, have a problem with expectations being on the citizens to curtail questionable practices with the necessary footwork and proof for those "in authority" to do anything - least of all a surprise visit to the facility - if you get my drift.
Any indication of compliance to practices and standards would begin with "YES".
Yes, you are free to view our other dogs. Yes, you can see their pens and birthing rooms. Yes, you are free to take pictures. Yes, I can provide proper and necessary background papers and medical records on the animals I sell.
Is that what is happening here?
Farm girl, you just said it all. Anyone who has nothing to hide will let anyone in to take pictures and see the parents on sight. You should be able to go through the whole facility. Like I said before, come on out to my house if you want to see my set up. I have nothing to hide! Keep up the good work FG! You need to come to our meeting, too!

Can anyone come to your meeting? I love animals. Everyone should rescue amimals and make sure they are spayed or neutered! Puppies and kittens are cute, but there is always an adult animal that could use a loving home. If you can't make a commitment to keep it long term there are many organizations (even breed specific) looking for loving fosters.

Our meeting is open to anyone. You should have come today. We meet the second Saturday of the month at Burger King at 2:00. We are a friendly bunch of people, small in number, but wanting to make a difference. Our dues are $12 individual or $15 for a family. If you would like more info, please call our cell phone number. I would be more than happy to talk to you.

i also bought a dog out there about 10 yrs. ago and have had nothing but problems. She was suposed to be a full blooded yorkshire terrior and from looking at her you can tell she is not.i do have papers on her that are not akc but i think ckc, which states that any two full blooded dogs can be bread together.akc states that they have to be two full blooded dogs from the same bread.jim does the ckc quite alot and does run a puppy mill. all i can say is "DO YOUR RESEARCH".

This place is without a doubt a puppy mill. The conditions are horrid. He has a barn crammed with dogs in small cages that are filthy and the dogs are clearly uncomfortable and unhealthy. The pups that he shows you look fine. But, when I asked to see the parents of one of the pups I started to cry. The mom was filthy, malnourised and scared to death. When I said something to him about it, he said, "She is fine". I was devastated. We found another kennel nearby that was wonderful. This place should not be in business. I don't care if he has been in business for 40 years. It is a complete travesty what he is doing to these poor animals.

The person who started this thread is probably one of the local Humane Society nut jobs. These people treat the dogs in their possession as bad as described here.
One guy that was involved with the Humane Society several years ago had nearly 30 dogs at one time at the farm house he rented from Barton Barker. Several died while in his care. This is just one example of these whack jobs vision of humane dog rescue.
Funny how this all came up after the recent licensing issue centered around the kennel the H.S. run in a residential area.
Why do you people always blame negative comments on Topix on the Humane Society? I don't know if someone from the HS posted that comment about Greiner's or not but I surely doubt it. I have been in the HS from almost the beginning and I know of NO member that rented land from Barker and had 30 dogs and that some died in this so called person's care! And for your information we are zoned AGRICULTURE on our side NOT residential and we were set up and we know by whom! The HS is only trying to make life better for animals-so what is wrong with that? Get a life and "rag" on someone us and give us a rest!

Its odd that you say all of this. I have bought 3 dogs from Jim and was allowed to go in and meet the parents of each one of them. I was also allowed to watch the bitch interact with my pups until I was able to take him home. I have never had any health problems from mine or the pups I bred from them. I know he keeps the cages clean and interacts with each and every dog on the property. He treats them better than most people treat thier own dogs. geeze 1st one 1988, 2ed one 1997 and the last one last year...

What does your organization do, let's say, regarding the great dane and puppies which have been spotted half starved on another post? Do you activly pursue resources available to assist this animal in distress or just meet at Burger King?

PS @ Debbie Werner: I think the criticism comes from the fact that you seem to do a great deal of self-promoting but it isn't coming from anyone else in the community. People view the Humane Society not only as a place which has animals (in your case, just dogs) for adoption, but as a resource and voice for all animals. You seem (and I stress seem as I do not know) to be a voice for yourself.

I personally have called the HS and received no answer. There was a terrible abusive situation taking place and I was looking for guidance and resources available to assist and put a stop to this individual who should never have a pet. No return calls from HS, no references, nada. There lies the criticism for me.

My daughter bought a very special westie we named Luna. $600.00 from this puppy . She was always having medical problems. Anemic and intestinal parasites. We had to put her down a little over a year old. She had cysts throughout her kidneys. She never got passed 9 lbs. we r so heart broken. If this is a puppy mill they need to be shut down

I think its should because we bought 2 dogs from there and while there we asked to see the dogs he wouldn't let us in where he keeps them. Someone go check him out.

The Greinerís have a puppy mill on their farm West of town. The condition of the dogs is completely cruel and disgusting. The dogs are covered in filth and feces and kept is small cages to breed uncountable litters of puppies that have health issues. I thought it was a crime to abuse animals. is there any other concerned citizens out there that think this should be stopped? The local humane society has been limited why should a puppy mill have rights. Lets get this stopped together. Please
I tried e-mailing several agencies about this mess and NO one e-mailed me back! I agree, the humane society is limited to what they can do so why not them. It is just a way of living for the Greiner's for over 50 years! Well, the old man is dead, and things will just go on. Such a sad waste of an animals' life! Anyone have any other ideas about how to procede with this problem.

To the POS Debbie Werner: I would strongly suggest not trespassing on my property again and trying to question my neighbors based on lies that your little friend reported to you. Would also like to let you know that what you said about our family to the neighbors is called slander. The very next time it happens you will be dealing with our attorney. I tried calling your so called cell number numerous times to tell you this directly. The problem is you never answer it or return calls. What you did certainly didn't sound like genuine concern for animals considering you were told by the neighbors that our dog is well taken care of. Your little friend that called you and said we are abusive has caused us trouble before many times. Trying to talk to our neighbors about our finances (which every word you said was a lie) is not concern for animals. Sounds more like your friend has a problem with us and you just helped her out. Once again let me remind you that next time you will deal with an attorney!

What kind of people/person would pull up an old post, from a year ago, to slander and talk poorly of someone who has passed away. You should all be ashamed of yourselves!
