A "sprinkling of lawns", "and washing cars"? What kinda of idiot finds watering his lawn or washing his car a 'priority' these days? It's a waste of water.
Of course, they'll compare us with other cities. They'll insist the state told them to do it. They'll swear it's a Federal mandate. Anything to pass the buck.

Gee, now you morons catch on.

Ya see, it works like this. The government runs low on funds, they'll scrape up every buck they can get to no matter if the people have anything left to give. It's their job. Let us eat cake, they say.

Jez ask any destitute blind man.

raising the rates on monthly bills then offering a break for water used on lawns and vehicles is borderline insane.

If elected I pledge three things .Cut wasteful spending like first class trips to China . Create an oversight committee . Create local jobs by working with the SBA to start up a business that is shovel-ready for the available workforce . A chicken in every pot .

Connersville has no water restrctions.. they are going to charge you for every drop you use and also all of it gets a sewer charge for every drop of water.. customers have to pay for all the water main breaks we had last year.. your Mayor lied when he said customers were not paying for water main breaks.. then can he explain the big increase coming in our water bills

the mayor said we are not charged for water main breaks.. thats another lie. all those repairs are passed on down to the consumer.Trash Pick-up has been increased to $10.. YOur property taxes should cover trash pick-up.. the board members say they hate to increase water and sewer rates, but they do it anyway. They put back large sums of money for future repairs. when the public cannot afford it.

The city should install sewer meters for all customers to monitor the amount of water they have to treat. Charging customers sewer rates to wash their cars and water their plants is unfair. That would be like me charging you to detail your car, when all i did was to wash it..the city calls it a loss of revenue with a sprinkling ordinance in place. Every thing the mayor says is mandated by the Federal government. we have no choice. Its just a matter of time before the water company goes broke, caused by miss management of funds

Trash pick up...$10...really? You're complaining about this? Easy solution...don't pay it and dispose of you're own garbage! Wonder how much that would cost in time and money over a year? As for water rates...do the same! Get jugs from the river, treat it ( oh you don't know how), store it properly and utilize as you see fit. Never mind the convenience of water running off your lawn and going into the sewer system. Maybe once you stop paying the water and trash bill, they will block off your drainage. Bet it's not cheap to pump excess water from your swamped lawn or home. With this being said, feel free to not pay these fees and see how long you last! Bottom line is these services aren't free and fees do rise. It's a convenience that we all have become accustom to in our everyday lives. Take them away and then tell me what they are worth!

If you can't afford to pay the increase to your water bill then maybe you shouldn't be watering your lawn and washing your car to begin with. Problem solved. Sometimes fair goes out the window when a city falls on hard times and elected officials have to make hard choices to keep things afloat. If you think you can do a better job run for council!

It's not about the quantity, it's what it takes to make it so when you turn your tap for a glass of ice water you're able to drink it or when you flush your toilet that your waste doesn't go directly into the river. It kills me to hear everyone gripe about this. You people take your family to McDonalds for convenience even though it costs 3 times as much as it would to cook for your family. Why? Because its easier! Water and garbage rates are for your convenience so you don't have to do it in your own. Hell, shut the entire system down and actually give people a reason to complain.

So what your uneducated self is saying is that you shouldn't have to pay a water or trash bill and it should be included in your property tax?

everyone has to pay a water bill. Water that does not go down the sewer should not be charged for sewer rates .Trash pick-up should be included in your property taxes.. These increases are the result of loss of revenue from people who move out of the county

That's a novel idea, let's purchase a monitoring system to determine how much water doesn't actually make it to the sewer system. I could only guess what that would cost! Let's see...6oz of water was absorbed by the towel after the shower so we don't charge for that or the 8oz glass of water you drank! Really, I know you've got better than that! As for garbage disposal being included in property tax, I can see it but not now. If you do that the tax rate will simply rise. As I'm sure you're aware, nothing is free.

I don't water my lawn or wash my car and our water bill went from 60.00 to 80.00 in just 2 months time. There are only 3 adults in our household and all we do is take showers, wash clothes and dishes... I just about fell out of my chair when I opened our latest bill last week.
