Everyone without a job should go to Work One employment office, and register for work, even if you dont want one or not. This would show what our county rate really is.Unemployment is based on the number of people that go and register for work. I know a lot of people have given up on trying to find employment or working out of town is impossible for them.EVERYONE PLEASE do this and show how our county is in really desperate need.

it won't matter if you just register. The unemployment rate is solely based on the number of people that received unemployment benefits for the particular week or month. It has nothing to do with being registered for work.

If the media was a true information media, they would also look into the number of families receiving food stamps every month and compare them from month to month.

No doubt when the unemployment rate falls, food stamp users will increase.

That's how stupid and lazy our news media has gotten. They get a news release every month from work one and that's as far as they go

Why would we show everyone how 'unemployed' we are? No one wants to invest in a high unemployment area. I would think we should try to show a rise in employment. It tends to draw people in instead of the mass exodus we are now experiencing!

Amirite?

that is a false statement. if you receive benefits or not if you are unenployed and sign up every week seeking work,it will be part of the stats. this is straight from a mouth of one that works at workone

Many people who have "fallen off" receiving unemployment benefits are no longer accounted for. Also, once they are no longer receiving benefits, most people look for work in other areas or companies on the internet. I for one have been checking workones site for employment ... what a joke! I've done much better searching company to company or visiting places like indeed.com , monster, snag a job, etc. and applying for work there.

Ya know, I don't know of anyone in C'ville that hasn't got a job that really wants one. Sure, they don't pay the greatest, but alot of people in this town are manning up and doin' the best they can. These polls only concern the people that make a living makin' polls. F**k them, don't mean nuthin', Holmes!

My name is Tuesday, Terror, an' I'll be here all day.*snickers*

Once your unemployment stops your not counted anymore. Which is crazy because you didn't get a job or disapear. They just don't count you in the numbers page anymore.Franklin County and Fayette counties have always rated high in low income for lack of jobs.

ALL unemployment extentions will end on 12/31/2012. Will not matter when you started to draw. All will cease. Long time recipients of unemployment insurance better start looking for work. Work One will help you.

This is an incorrect statement by you and by person at work one office. Once unemployment insurance benefits end, you are no longer counted in the stats and drop off the radar. There are numerous people using the state job search system that are not without a job. Go to state web site and read the facts..........

There are jobs out there, but most won't work for minimum and use the job as a stepping stone. There are jobs in other areas, but for what ever reason people just won't commute or even think about moving and I don't know what it is that's so great about Connersville that they don't want to move.In today's world you have to be able to pass a drug test so that limits a lot of folks.

House Bill 1044:

DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL
Tobacco use by job applicants. Permits an employer to consider tobacco use by job applicants in the hiring process.

Current Status:

In Committee - first House

http://www.in.gov/apps/lsa/session/billwatch/...

If this Bill goes through and is passed, you may want to think about stop smoking now, if you want a job. Something to think about anyway.

Right now in Ohio even if you are a nonsmoker and happen to live in a home with a smoker it's grounds for dismissal. They test the worker and if a small amount of nicotine shows up, they are fired. Not making this up folks, have a relative that works at a hospital in Dayton.
