Sick and Tired of the Noise

The other day I was cleaning up the garbage thrown from cars driving by my Mill St. home mostly from McDonalds, I was of course irritated. What drives by? some kid with his radio bass turned up so loud it made me wish he goes totally deaf by nightfall, I got a more irritated as you well can imagine. What makes some so arrogant and stupid? The trains! Those monsters blasting through here at 80mph with screaming horns, and not just the 3 legal blasts Im talking 20 or more ear shattering blasts before and after the crossing. I counted 8 trains in one hour, then there was silence for at least 2 unrelaxing hours gardening. Day in day out, what could it be that is driving this town down? Hear's a hint-Lakewood passed an ordinance stopping it once and for all. The last I "heard" Lakewood is a great place to live!

I can sympathise with you. But you might as well face it, you live a noisy part of town. Especially the trains, the tracks were there when you bought the house. If they are really going through town 80 MPH then call the cops. We could use the money when they bring them into court.
We can and perhaps should pass a stronger anti noise ordinance but it would have to be enforced. How do you do that with a kid on a bike?
Just wait until the 4th of July comes around and the kids are lighting fireworks off under your bedroom window. Every D-12 in town has money for fireworks, but can't feed his family without going to the food pantry or food stamps.
Good luck and buy some ear plugs.

Are you new to the area? After a few months you won't even notice the trains anymore...like the rest of us who live near RR crossings.
The majority of cars going by do not boom their music, so try to ignore the fools who do.
The garbage annoys the heck out of me too, but mine is the idiot neighbors whose garbage has been torn open by animals. Then the garbage is in my yard! The neighbors completely ignore it in my yard (even knowing it is theirs) and only pick up the crap in their own yard!

I'm curious - how far away is the nearest train track?
I can empathize with your frustration. Funny you mention McDonalds...remember the "hot coffee lawsuit" several years ago, the one that awarded millions to the purchaser of HOT coffee? Don't be surprised if these foolish young people blasting their stereos do lose their hearing years from now and they will sue the audio manufacturers! And probably win.
My wife rented in Lakewood for a year or two. Later, we lived two 'burbs next to Lakewood. NOT a pleasant area. Beautiful old homes, nice streets, and some nice stores, but the crime was out of hand.

Another thought regarding the litter...
First, littering is "supposed" to be an offense that carries a fine. I have yet to ever hear or meet anyone getting fined. Isn't it $200? If cities are so strapped financially, why don't they start handing out these tickets?? Email you city and state representatives this question. Same goes for noise violations.
And if the people getting ticketed can't afford to pay the ticket - they should be ordered to do community service...like picking up the litter!!
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a website dedicated to promoting fast food litter. This is a negative image that they don't need. Perhaps if they were aware of it, they would spend some of their profits to influence such ignorant behavior.

You guys should come over and live by the skate park. You want to talk about garbage and noisy. The kids hang out there all day with there Boomen car systems going and throw all there garbage everywhere. And think I was here before the skate park was put in. And I love how our tax dollars go to clean the place up.
