These remarks are exactly why getting Erie moving in the right direction is so difficult. We all need to wake up and realize that we have the potential to be more if we all would have a more positive attitude about the place in which we live. I was born here, and I have lived other places. Erie is special. The people here for the most part are friendly and down to Earth which is more than I can say for some other places that I have been. So what if we are not on the cutting edge of everything. We are descent, and need to value ourselves as such. When you talk badly about Erie, you are speaking badly about me, my neighbors, my family and yourselves.

Right on, Dawn. THANK YOU for being a voice of reason in this ongoing debate. Erie people need to wake up and realize that we do have something special here. But that doesn't give us permission to stop there. We need to embrace change and progress...but the problem is that so many people in this community are against those things. THey complain about the status quo but they will be the first ones to shoot down any potential idea to make changes to the status quo. It's very frustrating.

It has not been a terrible town for my family, but I think what is truly bringing the town dawn, politics aside, is how damned special people make it out to be. What does Erie offer that other regions cant? Presque Isle, but you can live in several other nearby towns that allows PI to be a day trip. There are several excellent local eateries, but if you travel to Meadville, they also have excellent local dives. I may be speaking negatively about your neighbors and you as well, only if you feel for some reason this town is a goldmine. People live a very sheltered life and have not lived in many places, and thus they create a magical fantasy land where Erie is perfect.

I doubt that anyone here thinks Erie is perfect, but there are few places that are perfect.
I can't imagine living somewhere that would require being in my car for hours a day just to get to and from work.
I can't imagine not having 4 seasons, each with their own special qualities and problems.
I can't imagine not being able to go to the beach any time I want, with a simple 10 minute drive.
Perfect? No, but we don't have hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, problems with having enough water, extreme heat or cold. We think a traffic jam is 30 minutes to get into the mall. A friend who lives outside LA said it takes her up to 4 hours to get to work! On a good day, it takes her an hour. Me, I'd rather spend that hour doing almost anything else rather than staring at the back end of another car!
