Over 100 business owners/members in the Conneaut lake area; why is Ramaley the only business owner continually making noise about this? Are the quiet ones just crazy, or is she the CRAZY one?

Much of the debt of the park is back taxes and other fees owed to the government. The park can't get loans to operated due to the debts. If the park can't get a loan to let the park open, then it can't make money to pay those debts. Wouldn't it be logical to waive those debts (which can't be paid without income, let the park borrow money to open and then hope that any profits could be used to pay current taxes and perhaps even some of the past debt?

Whether the debt is waived or not, it can't be paid if the park can't open.

The park is beyond help at this point. Do you have any idea how much money it would take to restore that place to operational? They have let it sink below repair. I have been in there and am shocked at how deteriorated most of the place is. We are talking alot more than a fresh coat of paint. Millions will be needed.

I went to the park in Aug of this year, while in PA visiting my family. I Have grown up with this park over the years of my life. This is the first time visiting the park after it closed that I can honestly say "It will never be open again" I saw the blue streak in a way I've never seen before. It was chilling! The carousel pieces and some of the rides we kept under plastic or in the old carousel. The fire destroyed a lot of the former concessions, including melting some of the midway lights. The train is still there but I think that they have had some of the cars stored somewhere. My heart goes out to Meadville and Conneaut Lake area as driving to the park, I saw many houses, hotels, bars, and business up for sale that were once thriving when the park was open in operation. I left the park bittersweet and had tears in my eyes as my son will never grow to love this park as I did as a child. My memories will always remain there. I remember the hell hole, Dracula's cave, and who could forget the "Ultimate Trip"! those were the days. I wish that guy could have lived forever. Once the young blood took over and put up a nice new entrance and started concerts, The park was on a downward spiral as he never paid taxes and Is to blame. In my humble opinion. To remember the death on the paratrooper probably didn't help. All the fires made the park seemed cursed. I believe that last fire was a inside job due to all the records to the park were kept in the building that had the fire. HUH! Isn't that a trip. Farewell to Conneaut Lake Park!

I grew with CLP starting back in 1960! It is a shame what has become of this once great amusement park. What is even more shameful is what previous owners, the government and the board of trustees have done since 1997! Now all I read are negative comments and only one business person and citizen fighting to get CLP back to its glory days. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH ALL OF THE RESIDENTS OF CONNEAUT LAKE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA THAT YOU ARE DOING NOTHNG!!!! CLP is NOT down and out! It can be saved, but not as long as it stays in the governments (trusts) hands! CLP needs to be marketed to a a company that deals exclusively with amusements parks, like the company that purchased Kennywood Park. If I were close by I would assist, but that is not possible. I still have friends from my youth who live in and run businesses in the CL area that need to help out. Come on folks, positive and hopefull!

I agree to a point, the locals have tried to do something. They have done numerous things to possibly save the park. Do your research online about the park's issues and you will be surprised to see the truth. It would take millions and millions of dollars to restore this park after paying off back taxes and what not. I was positive but after countless hours of research and reading about the park and my last visit I can say NO more. Its unfortunate but we have to let it go.

The last summer the park was open, I took my 2 young children to the park. There was no one there. I couldn't believe the small amount of people there. It was a great time for my two children in Kiddie land! It makes me sad- when I was in Junior high school in Meadville, we always had our field trip/end of the year party at the park. Back then (in the late 80s) the park was awesome! There was always a ton of people there. They need to update the rides and maybe bring a casino or something there. It's a shame it is closed.

I would opt for a casino, That would generate revenue that the community desperately needs! Although the old timers would fight it!

There will be no casino. They have all been allotted across the state. Most people now go to Cedar Point, Disney World, Splash Lagoon, or even Kennywood. Unfortunately, time has passed by Conneaut Lake Park and people are looking for bigger thrills and higher-tech rides these days. It's a shame.

People still like the old "small" parks for younger children. I love all the above mentioned parks but hate the long lines, like caddle making their way to the slaughter house, everything you do these days requires long lines. grocery stores, wally world, gas pumps, fast food and what not. Kids (under 7) cannot or do not have the patience to stand for a hour or so to ride a ride. Yes, I agree with you, most people Are looking for bigger thrills but some just want a smaller park to spend the day at. Like I stated in my post, CL will never re-open. I will just share the stories with my son, since he will never be able to enjoy the park.

It is this continuous negativism that feeds to discourage everyone. This is not the type of attitude that built this country and its communities. Where are all of the people with VISION? It will take some time, planning and money. With the economy in such a big mess this will be difficult, but it can be done. It all comes down to attitude, desire and determination.

Again, this park needs to be REMOVED from the hands of government oversite and marketed (sold) to an amusement park group that will commit to renovating, improving and updating the park so that it can compete or be sold to a partnership group to do the same. The park will not be successful, if it brought back solely as it was in the past. It needs updated, as well as, keeping the old time atmosphere.

Money and effort has been and is being invetsted into developement around the lake with such projects as Snow Waters. The park would be a good addition to the promotion of Conneaut Lake as an affordable destination Resort.

I know that there are a lot of real estate professionals and business owners in the area and very successful professionals who own summer properties in Conneaut Lake. Surely, among all of them there are some who can save this park.

Stop the negative. Promote the positive!

they should just build a casino there, it would bring in a lot of business, including hotels and water sport rentals, and more people would be interested about buying real estate too. CLP hasn't changed, the people have, why go to CLP when instead you go to six flags or cedar point. the younger generation isn't as nostalgic as the older generation who hope and pray the park will be resurrected and everything will be like it was back in the day. no kid wants to talk about riding the blue streak, sure the park is cute, but seriously, what good is it anymore? it's a waste of really good property on the lake front. it's almost disgusting to see it still out there, like a big shadow over conneaut lake.

The reason why CLP can't make any money when they are open is because most of their income they used to make came from big company picnics. all the big electric and industry companies from around PA would have yearly picnics where all the employees and their families would go to CLP, this was the buiness. Now with almost all of those companies shut down due to outsourcing, theres no more of these big picnics. You seriously think conneaut lake park can make profit by selling french fries and blue streak tickets to only the locals who live in conneaut lake, it's impossible. Look at cedar point...if you go there in the summer, the majority of people are there in large groups, and large groups i mean a minimum of 50 people all going together with either a company, or an organized trip, like senior day for high school kids. when i went there on my senior trip, the whole parking lot was full of school buses, not cars and trucks of the locals who live in sandusky, ohio.
