[And don't say that drunk driving isn't equivalent to the above mentioned crimes, because drunk drivers are murderers.]

You have got to be kidding me! Unless the drunk driver intentionally ran into another vehicle or person then, it is not the same as someone murdering, raping, or any other violent crime that was intentionally committed. Should we try to reduce/eliminate the effect of alcohol related deaths and injuries?...absolutely! But, to compare a death from an alcohol related accident to a cold blooded murder or rape is plain wrong.

RIP Ryan and my deepest condolences to your family for their loss.

So Dvillegrad, would you have that same opinion if someone killed your kid in an accident who was drinking and driving???? Drunk drivers ARE murderers, they KNOWINGLY drink and they KNOWINGLY drink and drive if they didn't set up a plan prior to their fun night out. Let's ignore the problem because Ryan was a "good guy" instead of dealing with issues.

To answer your question caps...yes I would still have the same opinion. IMO, murder implies intent to take someone's life. I will argue that very few drunk drivers intentionally try to do this. My opinion doesn't change because the situation may hit closer to home for me.

I really don't follow your logic. In no way was I suggesting to ignore the problem. My issue is labeling someone a murderer when they did not intend to do harm.

to all of you people out there that really need to hear the facts my cousin was not intoxicated in anyway at the time of his crash, as indicated by the toxicology report. the medical report also revealed that there was a strange mark on ryan's hip leading the examiner to believe that ryan had been wearing his seatbelt at the time of impact and that it had simply malfunctioned. it was simply god's time to take him home, for what reasons i will never know. he was a great kid that would do anything for anyone, even a complete stranger in need. i love and respected ryan dearly and consider him to be an older brother to me. it amazes me that there can even be people like ryan in a world today where there are obviously so many of you that are uncaring, immature, and hurtful. rest in peace ry guy i look forward to the day we meet again

CRYSTAL your story does not compare in any way to the Ryan Perry situation. He was a good person that passed away in a tragic accident - there was no drinking involved. So stop getting on here trying to get people to feel sorry for you. Let the post be what it is about, Ryan Perry!

IF the seatbelt malfunctioned, I hope the family is pursuing a lawsuit.
