Just keep in mind that well over a third of New Hampshire Republicans voted to kill the repeal. There were 216 votes to kill, and there are fewer than 100 Democrats in the legislature. I'm waiting for roll calls to be posted to get more accurate counts. There were an additional 80 representatives who didn't vote. We don't yet know who they were.

New Hampshire already has two years of civil union experience and two more years of gay marriage experience
.
At no time during that 4 years of experience has a polygamist or animal marriage enthusiast sued for the right to marry
.
So the doomsday representative made himself look like a sniveling fool by making such crazy claims

Good to know, but... isn't it always the republicans who initiate ALL the anti-gay legislation?

The point I've made several times now is that Republicans are moving to accept equality. Remember how nearly all Democrats supported DOMA and DADT not even two decades ago. We made slow, steady progress to get to the point we could expect support from most Democrats. Some places, we still can't. And we'll make steady progress with the Republicans.

And if Republicans suffer the drubbing they deserve from the women of America this fall, the evangelical nuts will be sidelined. We may make faster progress in the party than anyone expects.

BINGO.*thunderous applause* The republican party has produced an outrage in America's women which should not be underestimated. I have seen editorials so full of seething fury that it's becoming easier and easier to imagine republicans being *wrecked* come this autumn. I sincerely hope for it.

Know your allies. These women probably number, amongst their ranks, many-many-many supporters of marriage equality, etc. The pro-gay can work with them, support them, let them support the pro-gay. Some of these women are well aware *right now* what it's like to feel like second-class human beings in America, and some of them are howling with rage. I think it's gonna do the pro-gay cause some good.

They were signed into law to prevent an anti gay Amendment to the Constitution from being forwarded and possibly voted into law.
How soon people like you forget.
What was done was to mitigate the possibility of a greater issue.
DADT has an often forgoten part, DP(Don't Pursue) which was eventually Ignored by the next Power that came into play, GW BUSH.

Don't Pursue was ignored from the first day DADT was implemented. Discharges immediately increased.

That's actual History. The fact that you find it laughable shows your delusional attitude Daniel/Frank/Whatever hiding name you choose this week.

I fell for nothing. I have never forgiven him for the way DADT was implemented, nor the way he shamelessly tried to sell it as a step forward.

It is true that Clinton was boxed on DADT after he misstepped in his attempt to end the existing persecution of gay soldiers. But he was boxed by Democrats and Republicans alike. Sam Nunn was a prime leader on DADT.

As far as DOMA, Clinton calculated that resistance would be futile. And there was no upside to joining a fight. So he let congress know that he wouldn't fight. Congress rushed DOMA through, and Clinton signed eagerly.

That was just one of the reasons I never supported Hillary.
