The chief and sgt are obligated to lead by example. Clearly they were not up to the task. How frustrating for the other officers to have to put up with this behavior when it directly affected them. It also sounds like the Lt. has no clout either or he would have done something about this. Carlisle needs to "clean house" and get people in those top positions who have morals and will earn the respect of the entire department. The townspeople deserve better.

The issue is that the folks involved in this scandal are being paid with public funds and have a responsibility to look out for the welfare of the town. I'm sure that you would agree it's a little difficult to respond to a call with your pants around your ankles. Sullivan's reward for his indiscretion? a fat $69,000 a year pension.
The other issues that you spoke of relates to behavior of executives in PRIVATE companies. The Board Of Directors is responsible for taking care of this and these folks are not paid with tax payer funding.
That's correct, there aren't any angels in private corporations either. Private corps take government bail-outs and they close-up shop and out source jobs. Private corporations are very UN-American; their activities push the workforce to seek government jobs.

Hey everyone it's over now. Let it go. There are other important matters around the world to talk about like our men and women in Irag and Afghanistan fighting to keep us alive. Also the Homeless and sick children with cancer etc. This is more important than what is going on in Carlisle. So give it up.

Yeah good friend of whom I wonder.

I agree that this is not the case of the century, however towns like Lexington and Wilmington and Dracut should hope that the news moves on because there is one little aspect of this case that actually is BIG news. And that is that the town hired a private investigator to investigate suspicious activity by their own police.

That is unheard of in this corrupt state, where fat well funded police departments internally handle misconduct, abuse and breech of the public trust and violations are swept under the rug.

Do you know that a State Cop crawled into a toll booth and made sexual advances towards a defenseless female toll collector and he is still on the State Police? Another man supposedly died of heart failure surrounded by cops and of course the only testimony is from other cops.

Sullivan's misdeeds are more about abusing the public time and money than hurting someone and so this too shall pass for him (or it should) but Carlise's willingness to conduct an unbiased investigation is BIG BIG NEWS. Or at least it should be.

This whole thing started by a former Carlisle police officer named Patrick Colburn who alleges he lost his job due to favoritism, or perhaps due to his errors on the job. Another police officer who still works at Carlisle police station named Paul Smith who maybe lying in order to get money. The main people who caused all of this is Colburn, Smith and Cardonne. Sullivan just got stuck in the middle trying to keep the department stable. I think half of the stories are based on lies. Sullivan is a good guy who worked on the force for 30 years. I remember way back when he saved a tiny baby who had trouble breathing and was turning blue. He used CPR and saved the tiny baby. The family was very grateful. He really cared for the town of Carlsle.

Talk about missing the point! What CPR trained person wouldn't save a tiny baby? Good for him that he was able to respond to that call. The parents will be forever greatful. They weren't saying Sullivan was a horrible guy. Nobody should be dragged in the mud for years on end they should pay their dues and be forgiven and be able to move on.

They were talking about the fact that Carlisle hired a PI to investigate its own police.

Do you think that Lexington would ever do that when one of their well paid dozens stepped out of line? I say fat chance.
