Another stupid truck driver on a cell phone while driving and not paying attention. They get their jollies off by double clutching the truck to make it sound louder in the muffler.Probably hung over from the night before and got out of patience with the poor driver trying to park his car..........those inconsiderate truck drivers make me puke..........aahhhhhhh

Truck, car, it doesn't matter what you drive: SLOW down and pay attention.

Don't give me the "that's why they call them accidents" bs. All these recent accidents are caused by bad driving.

As a truck driver, and previously a truck driving student, I can tell you that drivers are taught to use the throttle while downshifting to help match the engine speed properly for a smooth shift. There are plenty of "bully" truck drivers for sure but some are doing as trained when they do that. I have also taught driver's education on both CDL and regular class d license levels, when you are parallel parking, you are supposed to check the opposite lane before you begin moving toward the left. It sounds lie the subaru partially entered the truck's lane and therefore should be found at fault. Unless the truck driver left his own lane or was drunk/otherwise impaired, he should not be found at fault even if on the phone or otherwise distracted. It sucks but unless he left his lane, he really did no wrong even if on the phone. He could however lose his job if his company has a phone policy if he was indeed talking on it.

Errr...distraction is not a defense. I drove Class A for 29 years and this guy is responsible. It is his fault.

You couldn't be more wrong. Operating in an unsafe manner for any reason is a driving offense.

Walden Street is very narrow for trucks. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the dump truck crossed over the line. It would surprise me if a small car like a Subaru did while backing into a parking space.

i have not heard any reports that the truck driver was driving recklessly or distracted. if he was then i would be the first person to crucify him but he was not the car in the path of oncoming traffic, the subaru was. now, if the investigation proves he crossed the lines, then things would be different.

There is a cover up w/ this story the man in the car is entirely at fault.Maybe he should learn how to back into a spot without crossing lanes and remove his led foot !

Thinks it's kinda funny the guy in the car has had big shot family members in that town for years no wonder why the crooked cops are blaming everyone but him.
