She also sued the School Department and its members over the Suzi Landolphi contreversy. Costing the town a lot of money in legal fees and much anguish. I still remember the angst she caused among the School community over something that was not mind boggling. My children and my friends were horrified by her antics.
You have written misinformation.

It was NOT Mrs. Martinez who sued the school department.

Mrs. Martinez won every town meeting race she ran except one. She served for eight years in town meeting.

How about getting one fact straight?

Martinez is nutty. Thank god there's a competent person in the primary running against her.

Another area where Sandi Martinez’ platform displays a lack of compassion is in unyielding opposition to abortion. The decision to have an abortion is an extremely difficult one, and all reasonable people would like to see fewer abortions. So why make it difficult for women to avoid pregnancy?

As state chair of the Concerned Women for American (CWA), Martinez has worked hard for years to deny accurate education about the effectiveness of contraceptives and instead emphasize abstinence until marriage (the average age of marriage in the US is now 25). Abstinence should be taught, but abstinence-only education leaves students so misinformed about the effectiveness of contraceptives that when they do become sexually active, studies have shown they are more likely to more likely to contract a disease or become pregnant.

If Martinez were to implement her platform, even many adults would be denied access to birth control. Victims of rape would be unable to get the morning after pill. This pill does not force an abortion, it prevents pregnancy. Pharmacists could refuse to provide birth control to single women, or morning after pills to any women, out of “conscience”. Victims of incest would have to get their parent’s permission to not carry the child to term. These are all positions that Martinez has endorsed and promoted through the CWA.

While we may never come to agreement between pro-life and pro-choice advocates, we should expect our leaders to exhibit compassion and work hard to prevent unwanted pregnancies. We should tell candidates like Sandi Martinez not to use legislation to impose a narrow view of sin and sexuality on everyone else.

About the Massachusetts Republican Assembly

The Massachusetts Republican Assembly (MA-RA) is dedicated to working with the Republican Party to promote the election of conservative Republican candidates. MA-RA sponsors public forums and encourages the expression of conservative political views.

Beliefs

WE BELIEVE that all political power should reside in, and be directed by, the PEOPLE; That all human RIGHTS are granted by GOD, not GOVERNMENT, which is constituted to protect those rights;

That the CONSTITUTION of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA was written by wise and just men whose original intent is as valid and binding today as when it was written;

That the first right is the RIGHT to LIFE--from the life of the unborn child to all persons regardless of age or infirmity--and the practices of ABORTION, EUTHANASIA, SUICIDE, and the public funding of such practices is contrary to the LAWS of NATURE and of Nature's GOD;

Let's not lose sight of the point of the article here: Martinez won't debate Dahlberg. She's either scared (my vote) or feels entitled to the nomination - no questions asked.

Regardless, her denials and flip-flopping and bizarre, incoherent responses make it crystal clear that she's not ready for prime time. This is her third time running for this seat - amazing how amateurish, petty, and disorganized her campaign is.

She will never, ever be a state senator. I know it's hard for her supporters to read, but it's the truth. This district would never support someone like her. Why not concede now and exit gracefully - proud of her many years of activism on behalf of her causes - and unite behind a candidate who can win, Dahlberg?

Sandi, has said that she wants to hold Town Hall-style public forums before she debates Dahlberg. Why can't he respect this and stop insisting "sooner than later"? The debates should be held at a time good for both of them -- not just him.

Dahlberg got elected to Selectman less then two months ago and already he's looking for a higher office??

Maybe he should concentrate on the job he was elected to do FIRST.

He got elected TWO YEARS and 2 months ago and he has done an excellent job as Selectman.
I expect the same when he becomes our new State Senator

The primary is in Sept. if Sandi believed in democracy she would agree to a debate with Dahlberg. She claims to be about transparency and the people, but she refuses to debate the issues in an open forum. What does that tell you? If she cared anything about the district she would drop out. She's unelectable!

That first comment is deadly - did she really send that email to Rep. Lynch about Obama? That's nothing compared to some of the wacky stuff she's said on that ridiculous local cable show over the years though. My favorite one was about how homosexuality is "curable" through therapy.

Perhaps Sandi Martinez thinks she is a prophet of God. Ask her and hear what she says.

Integrity matters more than having the right positions on the issues. So called prophet Martinez would never get my vote. True prophets have integrity.
