Amtrak runs commuter trains. Look up on Amtrak dot com. Martinez to Sacramento.

I live at Whispering Oaks. It was far from my first choice and I have had some strange things happen while I've been here. Still, it's not a bad place, but that is always subjective. It's not San Ramon. :-)

you guys are rediculous. Concord is NOT ghetto, ya monument is slightly ghetto, but the rest is ok. Anything down cowell to crystal ranch to clayton to walnut creek in concord is paradise....i mean come on, there's tons of white people.

I have to agree with haha here... if you are in your 20's then you know what the "scene" is if you were older then maybe you would have issue's with the "gangs" in concord. While maybe they are considered gangs by local law enforcement they are mostly youths hanging around and getting into minor trouble.

The places Ive lived are as follows and these are only my opinions...

**Off Treat blvd near WC Border -- Home, no issues

**Off Clayton Rd - Grove street -- Home, no issues

**Off Clayton Rd - Alberta way -- apt, no issues
car towed once.

**Off Clayton Rd -- apt, little further up, no issues

**moved to Pacheco -- Loved it!- town hm, rented but owner sold it

**back to concord... Off Detroit Ave -- apt, car stereo stolen (left car open) but it was in the complex with security.

Bought house in Concord - Off North 6th no issues for past 5 years...

There are good parts and bad parts in ANY city. Any one who says otherwise is clueless... all you need to do is search the local police dept website and look at the daily call logs. it will tell you what going on in the community.

As suggested... stay away from Antioch unless you are a VERY early commuter, traffic SUCKS on hwy 4... they do have "Gang" issue's in certain areas.

My suggestion if you are actually looking to commute to Sac is NOT move down Clayton road... the commute even before you get to the Fwy can be crappy at times... of course this all depends on when you leave for work.

i will strongly agree with other posters about getting here first and checking out the area...

good luck if I can be of any assistance drop me your email address and we can chat...

Oh and your commute to SAC from concord is Reverse commute I believe... how long i cant tell you as ive never been on the fwy at that time of the morning. But there is a nice new spanking bridge replacing the old piece of crap that caltrans wasted money on renovating and expanding... anyway... come to concord you wont regret it.

Clayton/Concord border by Ygnacio Road and Clayton Road. Also some Condo's and maybe even houses in Clayton. Nice quiet place 15-20 mins from freeway. Country type town.

ok thanks for the info. as you can see i personally don't need it anymore haha i am here! and so far what ive seen of concord it is perfectly fine. i think some of the people giving me info. are very biased on what is "safe" and not. i came from milwaukee so concord is like suburbia. thanks though i love it here so far!!!

oh and thank you for the commuter info. yeah it would be way too far or a job. i got a really good one in sunnyvale though, still far but not as bad.

Commuting from W.C. to Sunnyvale will be a long and expensive trip and you'll definitely want to keep up with the traffic reports before you begin your commute.

You may want to consider moving to Pleasanton so as to shorten your commute.

Good luck on your new job!

My sweet little truck was just stolen from my place of business in Concord. A 2002 Toyota Tacoma with only 33,000 miles and all paid off. I will never get the value from insurance.

The universe is telling me to sell the shop and get the hell out of Concord.

I wish you better...

Concord?? Ghetto?? I moved around from bad to good in my life from Daly City to the outskirts of SF- Sunnydale near Visitacion Valley -the little known area where ghetto thrives. At least here in the Suburbs, gunshots doesn't blend into the environment.
Tuscany apartments

I live in Pleasant hill and would stay clear of the Tuscany apartments. The previous name was "Pinecrest", we had another name - pipequest. A lot of drug dealers and police activity. I would check rents in Walnut Creek as well. There are a number of affordable units in the creekside area off of South Main st. South martinez is nice as well...
